Transfer season

well, the ESPN grad transfer list doesn't show much interesting in the big guy category. pretty sure there won't be a comparable replacement to Hans.
good grad transfer big men go to the glory schools. those schools have a bunch of late openings to fill, and promise the world. heck, the W&M kid would rather spend his final year handing out towels for a championship contender than play.
Seems that is true Spider-Man. Many kids had rather hand out towels and be cheerleaders on the bench than play. Again we have no eggs and no basket.

Tough news. Staff has ties to him, open spot and need where her plays, familiar with our system and couldn't close the deal.

The further we get from the NCAAs, tougher it is to get kids like that.

Or maybe he really liked Keith Gill.

Took him all of 5 minutes to throw Hans under the bus. Had he signed with us, there would have been umpteen posts about how great Hans is.
So? 97, you would be a perfect complement for any vdu board. Funny.

These other schools chime in and offer P5 experience. Tough to turn down ur last year of hoops. Sucks for us. Seems like we are always second fiddle when it comes to competing offers from power 5s. Probably what it feels like if u r radford offering against us. Still to be the best we need to get the best period!!

Like 97, I have to say once the big boys got involved I lost a lot of steam on this one. I did have concerns about the injury history, but for the potential return if healthy would have been well worth the risk. The W&M guy seemed like a good fit, wonder if we went after him? Hope we have a plan B, but it seems unlikely to find such a good potential fit at this time.

97, I was never all in on Hans being a key player on the court. Grant has much more upside and, if healthy, is a much better player. My positive thoughts about Hans centered in his experience which could be helpful in Grant's development, and his reputation as a great teammate. Someone on this board used to bring up Paul as being injury prone, Hans is the poster boy for injury prone. I wish Hans the best, but also realize that he likely would not have been a key on-court player for us.
From my earlier post:
"My thoughts about Hans differ from those already expressed. First, sure he would be the perfect fit for us, if his legs are in good working order. But I think that just as important would be his knowledge and experience. He would be a terrific mentor for Grant and our other big men and he apparently is a great teammate. Hope he decides to become a Spider."

what grad transfer who wants one more season, wants to spend that season with a team that has very little chance at the NCAA tourney.

Want to have the we're rebuilding conversation again?

We would have had a very good chance to make the tournament with a healthy Hans playing 30 minutes a game for us. We still have a chance, but it's much less certain than it appeared it would be for the past couple months.

Maybe Hans reads this board........

Really think that a number of posters on this board aim to hurt our recruiting. Sad.

Thanks for your insightful commentary, Clueless AF A-hole Guy. I don't really recall asking your opinion. But you and the other VDU fans who seem to think that because TJ and ShawnDre graduated we are going to suck are in for a rude awakening come January.

We're in for a rude awakening. Losing TJ and Shawn'dre is just going to be too much. We all saw what it looked like this past year when TJ wasn't out there and it didn't look good, offense went stagnant and we had no height. Buck and Nick are great but it won't matter because we will have absolutely no real front court players. I don't like the idea of big Paul friendshuh having to play big minutes up front for us. We will finish toward the bottom of the A10 and vcu will once again make the big dance.

Don't feed the trolls. VCU lost half its team, two of its four recruits and got a worse coach. And its remaining players all play the same 2 positions. We got bigger and we return three young studs in our starring lineup. We will be a top-5 team in three league, barring injury.

Also possible that Hans did not see himself getting the minutes he desired at UR. If Grant is healthy, he will play.

Brase was always something of a risk. If he goes to Iowa State and blows a knee out again, we will all be happy we didn't take him. I just hope the coaching staff has a better-than-Kwesi back-up plan.

Also saw where Marin Meric from NIU ended up at DePaul. Can't imagine why a guy like that would choose to go play for Dave Leitao (also can't believe DePaul would hire him back...) on a team that didn't even win 10 games this season...SMH.

Northern Illinois?

Without Hans, and with what is available in the Grad market, do we look harder at a traditional transfer? Knowing Kirby is the only graduating player this year?
