Sy Chatman - 2018 Offer

Geez, maybe I wouldn't be a "Negative Nancy" if we actually had something positive happen in relation to the basketball program. Give me something to be positive about and I will gladly be positive.

However, thus far our spring signing period after our 12 win year when we were told, we are so young, just wait till next year when ALL our players are back. And then boom, we lose 2 of our best players and have thus far replaced them with some kid from Finland that has no D-1 offers.

Unless Rob Jones starts playing with matches again and burns the Robins Center to the ground next week, things really couldn't be getting that much worse for our basketball program right now.

None of that is the point. The point is you criticized Ulla for being overly positive while trying to say you can't be criticized for being overly negative.

ok but other than the possibility of adding a couple of new recruits, there's no good news coming until November. we can't win games we don't play. so should we expect the negative nancy routine daily until then? because you think that will enact change?

just let me know so I can delete the bookmark to this site.

Look man. They're right and you're wrong. We just gotta get that through our head. You either agree with them or you're wrong.

Again, give me something to be positive about. We have 2 open slots left and the need for players that can help us next year. Maybe the Moondog will sign us 2 guys with those slots who can actually help us win this coming year. That would excite me.

Mooney doing his job a hell of a lot better would excite me. Firing Rob Jones, and his 2 years of junior varsity coaching track record would excite me. Sitting down for a presser and stating of what the actual goals for our program are would excite me.

Until such things happen though, the beating will continue.

You guys are entitled to your opinions, just not your own facts. The facts are biased in my favor, just saying.

Well the deciding thing is which facts you think are the important ones and which ones aren't. Matthew Berry does a great article on this every year for fantasy football showing how you can manipulate any statistic or fact to make things look better or worse.

And we don't make up facts although I don't think that's what you were insinuating. The facts we use may be ones you don't think our relevant but you have to realize that is how we feel about the facts on the Anti-Mooney side. You say the facts are biased in your favor but I think they're biased in my favor. I don't have a problem with this debate though because it is good to have people from both sides debating about this. But...I don't think taking the frustration you have on Mooney out on Ulla is the right way to do things.

So I hardly fall into the negative Nancy crew, but I understand 97 and 23 on this. There is an Ulla tendency to like every recruit whether warranted or not. Similarly, those we lose aren’t desirable for various reasons.

Part of being a pragmatist is sometimes admitting that things aren’t always rosy/bleak. Should we be glad we signed an unknown Finnish dude who apparently holds no other D1 offers and may or may not be a 3* recruit? I guess maybe? It hardly means we should poo poo the guys we’re missing on.
