FWIW, he wasn't accepted into the Air Force Academy. He joined the Air Force out of high school, and in 2012 got selected for a program that would send him to the academy's prep school for a year with the possibility of going on to the academy after that. Not clear to me what happened with the prep school thing, but regardless he didn't go on to the academy.the "we don't take jucos" mantra at UR is short for "we don't take kids who's academics are so bad they wouldn't qualify to play right out of HS". that's not the case here. kid was accepted into the Air Force. academics aren't an issue, and I doubt there'd be any problem getting him in if he chooses UR.

Looks like a great guy and I think he'd be a great fit, but I haven't seen enough evidence to convince me the academics are as much of a slam dunk as some seem to think they are.
Did I also read somewhere that he had a 3.6 GPA at Midland? That seems promising...FWIW, he wasn't accepted into the Air Force Academy. 3.5 is what I saw. But hard to know what that means.Did I also read somewhere that he had a 3.6 GPA at Midland? That seems promising...
If we're talking inches, neither is particularly good.A lot of the coursework may not transfer, but hey, if he's got a 3.5, that's way better than having a 1.5.

Not to get into a measuring contest...but wasn't that comment about Solomon and not Malcolm? If we could put this post after Duke Denver's, it would read entirely different. SF, you sure not a lot about Bernard
Valpo seems to be one program that doesn't take a shotgun approach...very few offers. So if Valpo lands Hainna as their replacement for Skara, I'm going to avoid this board for a few days. Just sayin'...
Might have something to do with the coaching change this offseason.Valpo seems to be one program that doesn't take a shotgun approach...very few offers.

it's a tough business. rejection always hurts, but the staff moves on. there are always other options, and many end up better than your first choice (or 2nd, 3rd, 4th ...).I would think it would be maddening for our coaches to have to go through this ongoing process of rejection.
That's true. I just didn't realize how much of an effect it had. 3 offers for 7 spots next season...Might have something to do with the coaching change this offseason.
or like the time we missed on White, Wood, and Henderson and ended up with T Allen. 1,500 points and 780 rebounds later ...Yep, just like that time we almost landed Wesson but didn't, so we moved onto Ford...and didn't land him either. So then we moved onto....
Touche! Thanks spiderman! OSCor like the time we missed on White, Wood, and Henderson and ended up with T Allen. 1,500 points and 780 rebounds later ...
We do have a problem landing "competitive" recruits though. It's objectively true although it can also be rationalized. I don't fall into the "no excuses" camp but we have to figure out how to land some of these guys. Having some success in the tournament will go a long way, unfortunately that's kind of chicken and egg-ish:not saying it always works out well! I'd rather have Wesson, Hazen or Ford than anyone likely at this point. but not much you can do sometimes. it's not like walking into a store and saying "I'll take that one". we all think these kids should love UR as much as we did/do, but they don't have the emotional history that we have. while you and I might chose UR over say Arkansas, someone else might think we're crazy to do that.
Yeah, their name is Jethro and their interests include: rock skipping, trips to Wal-mart and looking at sister. While you and I might chose UR over say Arkansas, someone else might think we're crazy to do that.
Yeah, I defining tell don't know the answer here. I jokingly posted elsewhere that we need to target guys with knee injuries the summer before senior year and sign them before the senior season starts. I think that's why we landed DMB and Grant in large part. Local helps but vcu is also local. Being good and in the ncaa tournament is the best draw.as said before, we've landed 3 competitive recruits this year and two next season. if it takes targeting guys with Richmond ties to give us the edge we need, then target guys with Richmond ties.
