Solomon Hainna - 2016 JUCO Offer

Really confused about this guy's path. I spotted a 2012 Facebook post saying he'd been accepted to the Air Force Academy, his LinkedIn profile says he's a student at Colorado State (2015-2018), and yet he's at Midland College.

He also appears to have spent four and a half years in the Air Force, so he must be like 24 or 25.

Yes, I mention people in the recruiting thread because I want someone else to start the individual thread.

The ink on the offer must not be dry yet. Some places had it listed as a 2017 JUCO and that seemed even odder than his path.

Looks like Solomon can play; like that left-handed jumper and the high motor. OSC

This kid isn't your average JUCO. 3.5 GPA, takes a lot of charges. Says here he served in the Air Force for 5 years, so that explains the age.

This kid could help us inside big time.He plays bigger than his body weight. If he becomes a Spider he could help to fill a big void. Not sure where this came from but maybe Cline/Liberman had their antennae out in the Lonestar State.

I really like it because it appears that Mooney got out of the comfort zone of his square box for this recruit and the Admin gave him room.Lets not blow this one. He's a lefty like Bernard out of FAMU.

What is even more confusing is that he appears to only have played 7.6 minutes per game. Scoring 7.1 points and getting 5.5 rebounds in only 7.6 minutes per game is truly unbelievable, no matter what level he is playing. I don't believe these numbers are correct.
If you look at the game log, the majority of games he's listed as playing 1 minute, but that's clearly not correct, as in many of these he took 4 and even up to as many as 9 shots. Minutes clearly aren't tracked accurately and they just list 1 minute if there is no data.

No, obviously, he is a combination of Pistol Pete and Robert Dykes...

Just joking about the stats, the player on the other does look good...

Had to jump on and create an account to give you the background in case you're curious....

Solomon entered the military out of high school and served 5 years in the Air Force as a loadmaster on C-130's. He served all around the world including Iraq and Afghanistan. He chose to pursue his education and basketball and played one year of Junior College at Midland before graduating this May. He'll have a minimum of two years of eligibility. He just turned 25.

Thank you,JucoMan.For a lot of reasons, this guy should come to UR as a student athlete.A great role model,a leader that 18-22 year old kids will look up to.
Experience along with maturity. You know he will play hard.Time for Prez Crutcher to intervene.

Let's hope we can get this guy. I like the story and he looks talented. Make it happen, any recruiter other than Jones.

I was always critical of Brunt as a recruiter. I also am critical of Jones because I think he is useless and adds nothing to the program.

Brunt, Jones...why don't we just split the difference...
And get Solomon!

Eight, what a mean and arbitrary statement. How can you just say this about another human being that you do not know? Coach Jones is a great guy and more importantly a quality human being. Just cannot understand such cruel statements about anyone. OSC

Thanks, juco. Solomon seems like a good fit for UR and should benefit not only from our basketball program, but also our academics. OSC

Love the backstory, sounds a bit like George Evans.

Close the deal, staff.

Junior College transfers can play immediately, they don't have to sit out

I wasn't commenting on what type of human being he is. I'm sure he's a wonderful person. I happen to think he is a bad coach and bad recruiter who has not helped our program move forward and who has tied up a spot on our staff that should have gone to someone with much more experience and talent in the areas we need (recruiting, coaching big men, etc.).

Hope we get a visit out of him. Our campus is always a big help. He really seems to fit our needs.

I have zero idea how good this guy is. He has a bunch of mid major offers. we are the best of the bunch.

I say take a chance on him, it is far better than just leaving the scholarship open. Given how active we still are, it is pretty obvious that Mooney is far more concerned with only 11 scholarship players than some of the excuse makers on here.

Understood, Eight; perhaps a poor choice of words. OSC

Considering that this is a basketball board and not a quality-of-human-beings board, I didn't think it was necessary to qualify that I thought he was "useless" as a basketball coach and not as a human being.

Drake(Iowa) and Evansville(Indiana) are comparable to UR in undergraduate size. Each are private universities as well.
They are not comperable in academic quality, basketball facilities or conference quality though.

When you think that you are hot stuff and no one will say YES to go to the prom with you after you tried on multiple occasions then there
is an very artificially high opinion of oneself.Either that or it maybe bad breath keeping you from getting someone to say YES.
