Rocco mentioned in connection with UD job

Once this is resolved with Rocco, we need to initiate a campaign for new AD leadership.

"We" meaning fanbase....phone calls, fire off emails to everyone from the President to the custodial staff, social media posts, letters.

I suspect we could design a better ad, as well. That one appears to have been created in MS Paint. In 1999.

To be fair to Gil, he's currently in New York speaking at a conference, so even if he wanted to be at the show, he couldn't be.

The fact that he is in New York speaking at a conference at this moment speaks volumes. What also speaks volumes is the University President is basically doing his job right now of trying to keep Rocco. Another thing that speaks volumes to me is the absence of Gill's name in everything that is going on.

His absence is very notable if EVERYTHING that Rocco has said in public about the situation and particularly notable on how Rocco just lauded praise on Crutcher for his support of the football program and understanding of the importance of the football program in the larger university culture.

Who do you think Rocco was referencing when he made his now infamous "vision" comments? I think it quite clear now when you step back and take a look at all that has transpired that this was made in reference to the person's whose job it is to set the "vision" for the football program. That person would be the Athletic Director.

One thought concerning Danny taking another position. A friend moved from VaTech to the University of Florida a few years ago. He was 56 years old (Danny's age) and said that he was at an age where if you were going to make a change that was the time. He felt that he was still young enough to have energy and enthusiasm to make the change, and enough time before retirement for it to make a difference. UF offered a large salary increase, better lab facilities and increased funding. He made the move but regrets doing so even now a few years later. Both he and his family loved life at Tech, and loved the town and its rural nature which allowed him to hunt. From what I have heard Danny likes his present situation. Hope he makes a good decision. OSC

97, please don't take my post as defending anything. Just wanted to provide a piece of information that I didn't think was broadly known. For those that were looking for Gill were rightly looking, but probably didn't realize he had a prior commitment. Not saying it was the right choice or the wrong choice given the current situation, but just providing the information.

now that is funny mite, little i could take some humor lessons from you, no charge, spider board courtesy........righ???

Admittedly don't know much about Gill since he's had a low profile in the years he's been here. Has he done anything of note/positive?

Has he done anything of note/positive?

Selected for some ncaa committee, a regular on the seminar circuit, hired T. Woodson, hired Chemotti, ushered in men's lax, gave Rocco a year extension.

Oh, and he did put out a statement of support for Mooney towards the end of last year. But this year when the topic is Rocco (you know, a coach that actually WINS), we hear crickets. He's either in over his head, or he's QB'ing an agenda.

Queally hired Chemotti.Walsh does all the other 411 on Men's athletics, just as Sugg does on the Women's side. Those 2 do all the interviewing as well.
Woodson Valpo-->UR as a Benedictine grad. That was like falling off a log.

I wasn't but was as citing your post as informative because our AD is up in New York right now when we have a 5 alarm fire going back home with our football coach.

Gill..."have a great flight. I'm leaving NY soon, and I'll meet you in Spokane for the big game."

I think the point is we could do something like that with a modest 'passing of the bucket'.

Oh, I understood the point. I am unhappy with the coaches at both of my institutions. Well, one football coach, and one basketball coach. Y'all can figure out which ones belong to whom!

certainly don't have time to listen to nearly 30 minutes to determine if I agree there are "eye opening" statements. Why don't you summarize or tell us when to listen so we can fast through

the new AD said her top priority was to hire a new basketball coach. there search for a football coach is apparently over and has been for some time.

Don't like the sound of this. If the search is over, why no announcement? Only answer I can imagine is the new coach is involved in post season. OSC

If that's the case perhaps earlier posts saying DR committed two weeks ago is true.....
If so he leaves a lot of talent on the team he will have to face for next few years...
bottom line, looking forward to playoff game/s and very excited about Richmond football future regardless of who the coach will be next year!!

If it was a coach from an fbs school in a bowl game it seems they would have announced it.

That said, odds are its an FCS head coach or FCS assistant playing this weekend.

I have not listened to it myself, but I am sure you heard that wrong. We have our new basketball coach. Martin Ingelsby, former assistant to Mike Brey at Notre Dame was hired this year. He appears to be a great hire.
FWIW, the beat writer for the Wilmington paper put out about 4 tweets yesterday about Russ Huesman and his background and record. I am feeling that things are going in a different direction now.

edit- Just took a look at that again. That is an old interview from when when the AD was hired. Her first job was the bball coach. She then fired Brock's azz, so he was still there when this interview was done.

Yikes. This was filmed was on May 13,2016 when the new AD was named. What matters Is what the Prez and AD said during this presser. This is months before Brock was fired.Brock was fired on October 17,2016.

Spoon feeding is tough work....

When was the AD press conference? Was that a few months ago when she joined? She hadn't fired the football coach yet....

.

A little info on Russ, who was DC at UR before UTC HC gig.He has a $1,000,000 buyout.Sounds like no more tax free shopping at the beach
outlets to pay for that.

Right, a full five minutes. Good catch.

Not to offend you openly but some of us are eminently familiar with your athletics and your programs and are extremely familiar with your timing of hirings and firings and pressers and we even live in your state. We even have neighbors that operate on your athletes broken bones, not with an
'Axe'.

If you want to know anything else give a holler.

Good to hear, now get the win tomorrow.

I apologize but I need more spoon feeding. I listened to both tapes and read the article on Huesman. I get that College Observer is a Delaware fan. I understand that his edit refers to a mistake as to the date of the presser. I realize that the press conference for the AD along with the President was filmed this past May. I know that Brock was fired much later. I understand that Russ Huesman is a Chat alumnus and likes being at that school. I accept for the sake of argument that he has a $1,000,00 buy-out.
But what is the point of all this? What does any of this state or imply with respect to our coach staying or leaving our program?
