there r only so many bids the committee will give to mid major bubble teams. Most will go to power conf ones. So if Utah St & Drake r bubble teams we r disadvantaged having lost to both. U would desperately want them as a lock or winning auto not as a bubble.

but we r so far from thinking about that anyway. The opponent tracker is just a reminder we don’t have Ryan Odom here.

Yep, just need them both to get their auto bids, but the more teams we lose to like this, the less likely it is they all do that. Which means we might need to win our own autobid (a novel concept around here, I realize).

What kind of thinking is that. We need to reestablish our goals and refocus now, not somewhere down the road ijs.

I realize things hasn’t gone the way we want it to but it is yet early. We can turn it around. These games are valuable down the stretch.
I understand your point but there’s a consistent issue that our program and many fans think we can just make things up later. A) that’s really hard to do and B) we have not shown any capacity to do that in over a decade of trying.

Every game matters.

Our two losses could easily be Quad 1. So losing them does really hurt, but…not winning them really does.
Especially since they could end up being the only two Quad 1 non conference games.

can you get an at large without ANY Quad 1 wins? I have never studied to see if that is possible. What I recall is all at large were at least .500 in Quad 1 games.

What was Drake last season? If we split with SBU, Will we have one?

SF would know about past seasons…

We have nothing to be ashamed of losing to Utah State.
"Real fans" as you like to call yourself, tend to put all of their eggs in the "we won" or "we lost" basket. Those who feel that Mooney's tenure should have expired long ago, see it quite differently.

One could use this year's two early losses to explain the point. Utah State and Drake appear to be fairly high caliber teams. Both may indeed make the big dance. You, as a "real fan" see those as good losses. While losing to a decent team may have some merit with the NCAA selection committee, that is not the point for those whose frustration level is exceedingly high.

Over his 17-year head coaching career at Richmond (actually 18 because his performance at Air Force is a mirror image), Mooney has a repeated pattern of how his teams lose. Repetitively, we see poor execution, bad decisions, and/or a complete team collapse at crucial moments down the stretch. This is a coaching issue because you see the exact same story time and time again with different players over many different years.

To name a few of the symptoms and patterns: 1) Fail to have team ready for early season games, 2) Laissez faire attitude; no worries, we competed, 3) Lose the rebounding battle nearly every game, 4) Frequently poor defense, too often one of the worst defensive teams in the country, 5) Repeatedly mismanages end of game decision-making, 6) Unusual strategies involving timeouts, player rotations, and forgetting about players, 7) Consistent underperformance, roughly .500 career winning percentage

Not an all-inclusive list, but the point is made. Your prerogative, celebrate a good loss all you like, but some of the "plastic" or fake fans as you call us have concerns about the bigger picture.

SF would not about past seasons…
Drake was 1–3 Q1 last year...they split their regular season meetings with Loyola.

Not sure if anybody has ever made it without a Q1. Memphis had a NET of 52 on Selection Sunday last year with an 0–4 Q1 record, so they were close. Didn't get a bid, but ended up winning the NIT.

While we are on the subject of Q1 and Q2 games, something that is going to pose a serious problem to our March aspirations, assuming we survive the non-conference schedule semi-intact, is the major down year that the A10 is experiencing.

We can usually count on the upper tier of the conference to provide a good deal of Q1 and Q2 opportunities but we will not have that to fall back on if needed. The Bonnies are the only ones that will help us out in that regard and it is concerning.

Hoping URI may end up being a reasonably good team as well - so our away URI game could maybe turn into a Q1. Rest of there non-con is pretty week but if they end up beating Providence than they are looking pretty good.

I'm not so sure about that. Without looking it up I bet their non-conference schedule is bottom three in the conference and certainly bottom half. Providence is the single game that could possibly move the needle, you need to do better than that.

Nope, that's last year's final NET. Confusing for them to include that alongside this year's results.
I agree confusing.

I hadn't checked last year, but am following this year Torvik. Our 4 previous opponent's are
NCC 310 H
UT ST 37 N
GSU 113 H
Drake 45 A

4 possible opponent's this week are
Hofstra 162 H
MD 57 N
Miss ST 35 N
or
Louisville 43 N

I think if we got 2-1 with Bahamas and NC state and no other losses we’ll still be in good shape for at large. Obviously a huge, huge IF and I’m not counting on it, but that’s probably the path

Need to win out OOC.

Last year, Minnesota went 6-14 in the Big Ten, finishing 13th, and their final NET was 81. Maryland will likely finish way higher than that.

They happened to beat a few of the best Big 10 teams, which I'm sure helped their cause. Maryland doesn't appear capable of the same so far.

Not an opponent of ours, but JMU beat Wright State. The Dukes got off to a slow start, and I was worried they would drop this one. Need them to win to help boost the A10 since they beat George Mason.

Rooting for Wofford vs SC and then UGA. Both winnable games for then and could be a 6-1 headed into the battle with the Spiders ...

This one didn't make it on the list for today, but Bucknell was kind enough to give Mercer their first D-I win of the season. The Bison are 1–4.

Another clean sweep of the A10 if SLU can’t get past Illinois St (1 pt game at half). Definitely not getting any conference help this year.

Unusually weak A10 this year. Many young teams that could improve quickly as season progresses.

Best be ready beyond our so so OCC start. bc in conference wins may not count for much Netwise, but losses could be serious hits below the water line.

Need to play every game like it is our last.
