NC State 12/17

Look at Cornell...they've basically shut down campus and are reporting 300 cases a day. In a population that's 99% vaccinated. Omicron has changed the game.
Probably most of them haven't had boosters, which means the vaccine is only 30-40% effective or less.

According to who? Faucci? If so, consider the source before biting hook, line, and sinker EL.
Not trying to make this a debate on the basketball forum. Plenty of scientific evidence if you want to find it. Boosters help, that's why they are being given. I hope our guys get them so our season doesn't come to a halt again.

OK, how about this: This is a game we should lose and most likely will lose because we aren't a very good team, we suck on defense and our coach is predictable and impotent when it comes to adapting. Even though NC State is much lower than us in the NET, we all realize that we play soft basketball and will wilt under even the dimmest of lights when push comes to shove, and after tomorrow we will have no hope of making the NCAAs unless we win the a10 tournament, which we won't, or 60 other teams get covid on March 14.
I hope this is sarcasm. Otherwise please don’t watch the game today.

Only about 1% of all vaccinated people in Virginia have gotten confirmed cases of covid afterwards at some point. The new variant is more resistant to the vaccines, but people who are boosted have 70-80% protection. And yep, the main benefit us that even if you do get omicron, you're not likely to get very sick if you're vaccinated. Hopefully our guys are all healthy.
Right, if your vaxxed/boosted, you are pretty good to go. Almost all of the NFL cases are omnicron and players are not even sympotmatic, they just popped positive because of routine testing. Same with Cornell, which regularly tests its students. The next 6 weeks are going to be crazy. I don't think too much basketball is gonna get played, sadly.

the vaccine doesn't prevent this current strain at all ... despite what authorities may say. it does seem to keep you out of the hospital though. or maybe the strain is weaker anyway.

I know of a bunch of recent cases in the last week. all were people who've been vaccinated and some even boosted. they're sick but none are serious.
That is the point, if you are vaccinated and got the booster shot, it is just like catching the flu.

Vaxxed in April, set up booster appointment, got head cold, postponed, cold gone but tested positive before rescheduled date.

Now I know how last season basketball schedule felt…

Honestly, probably less than severe than the flu if your vaxxed and boosted. Why anyone would want to run the risk of catching it unvaxxed and just rolling the dice and hope they don't get a severe case is beyond me?

Well, Liberty and ECU made it to tip-off...fingers crossed that the rest of the day runs smoothly in Charlotte.

Did you see the few posts before that?
Have you followed EL predictions?
Are you at all superstitious?
I try to follow but I didn’t see it. Read his post, threw up a little given how many on the MB share this mindset and then made my point.
Some of you should go Christmas shopping this evening instead of watching the game.

Think it will be a close game, but I dread we fall into a 2nd half scoring spell where we can't score for 5 minutes, lose our lead and then fight back at the end - but run out of time.

NC State 78 UR 74

ESPN Streak for the Cash has todays game as an option to pick. Right now the percentages are:

Richmond - 1.9%
NC State - 98.1%

Syracuse, Colorado State, Hampton, Texas Southern, and now Florida State have all gone down in the past few hours.

Sounds like Duke is lining up to play Elon as their replacement replacement.

Almost all of our team caught COIVD last season. Natural immunity is the best form, when adding vaccines + boosters, we can play with no stoppage. If the NCAA follows the NFL model, any team that does not play should forfeit. That gives us a path to the final four. Bring it on, Duke.

My daughter vaccinated and was diagnosed with covid earlier this WK.

We’ve graduated from comeback kids to comeback kings. So these early-game deficits must be an intentional strategy to keep leveling up.

I get that, but all those comeback victories at the RC are against teams 1) we shouldn't have dug such big holes and 2) teams we should have beaten.

On the other hand we haven't closed against any neutral site or away teams other that NI - i.e. teams that we COULD have beaten and would have been resume net positives.
