NC State 12/17

Burton plays his heart out - what happened to his hand? Kept holding it and looking at it and after game protecting it. Any details? And Gilly was Mr. Clutch.............always good for us to beat an ACC team no matter who they are/tough to get them on our schedule.

It looked like Burton hit his hand diving on the floor late in the game. I sure hope he didn't break anything.

Thanks for Burton update - knew the hand hurt after he got off the floor but unsure as to what took place.

We were 31 for 59 from the field and State 23 for 59. Good overall effort and glad to see Wilson more willing to shoot - 3 of 3 from the floor with 2 three pointers. Has been hesitant after some early season struggles but this should continue to build his confidence.

Nice win! Felt good to actually finish one out. Now let’s hope NCSU can actually win some games the rest of the way.
This was a game where we played to the team’s potential in 2 halves. That is the difference tonight vs at least 3 of the 4 foregone opportunities that turned into losses. If we can consistently put together 2 good halves, we have the athletes to finish top 2 in A10. We need to do this on a regular basis. And stop falling behind in first half to pedestrian teams. Solid win tonight.

I just got finished watching the replay of the game. This is what we all expect of this team. Certainly not perfection, but all played hard and left it all out there. Solid win for the boys.
Jamie Luckie still hates Mooney for sure.

Solid game by Matt Grace (for all you Grace haters). 2-2 5pts, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assist, 1 steal, 0 turnovers. AGGRESSIVE
Grace is still terrible, but he had a nice few minutes tonight. I am happy for him.

No complaints about this one. Yes, N.C. State wasn't very good, but every win over the ACC is a good win. Spiders were solid from start to finish. If they can repeat this performance they will be the team that we thought they were going to be. Gilyard was particularly impressive.

Cayo shows up against the bigger name teams. He needs to show for the ODU’s and Bucknell’s too.

The scoring by Cayo and Gilyard were keys to the game. The team needs more than 3 scorers. Other players are going to have to step up and contribute.

Just a few days earlier this “not very good” took the number 1 team in the country to OT. Maybe they weren’t very good because of our defense and game plan.

I’ve been critical of Grace, but this game shouldn’t be the time. Gave good minutes, and sure looked good on that late game block that iced it.
Grace wins the award for best backup 5 since Josh Duinker (maybe?). Certainly better than Friendshuh (free Paul), Piotrowski, Kwesi. I guess Mooney started Deon Taylor over ANO for a while but that was dumb, he was usually a starter.

You would think they would have learned their lesson with Dennis butttt the Dillingham situation is very similar but hey that’s none of my business 😀
I must say that I was intrigued by your post, so I visited the Wolfpack message board. From the opening tip, the fan base was unhappy with their coach (their griping seems less than ours).

They noticed the disparity in officiating...
"Actually, we are getting the long end of the stick on fouls. Luckie has warned the Richmond coach. If you look at the graphic, we would be down by 11 more. We have 17 vs their 6 from the line."

And this:
"We got MORE favorable calls and Richmond got whistled a lot more, or so it seemed during the second half."

This was interesting:
"Still close at 1 minute. Wish our coaches would do something different. Maybe we should try and get the Richmond coach."

Then I saw this at the end...
"The sad thing about the Richmond game is that I felt Mooney could beat KK [Kevin Keetts-NC State coach] with either squad. Mooney would get more out of State’s roster and beat that Richmond team with KK coaching it."

I read all of those too and found their board to be comedy gold…but I hate state 🤷🏼‍♂️😂
