Not to dwell on the past, but I don't think Rocco left because of vision or Gill or Broadus or the status of the locker and training rooms.

I think he left because he realized he recruited in a subpar fashion after the Craig, Evans, Vergos class. Those were really big losses. Our lines are currently lacking in talent. Really, aside from an unbelievable passing game, we are lacking talent in a number of areas.

Russ will have us back but we are going to have some bumps in the road in the near term.

You think he realized some 7-4, 6-5, etc seasons were coming and got the hell out of town while he could?

Cop out!! Can't stop the run, can't win.

Right. This was about Huesman losing with a great team. You are dwelling on the past.

I don't think that's a cop out statement. I believe it to be spot on. We are not a very good football team outside of a terrific qb and great receiving corp. We truly have to score every time we have the ball to have a chance to win. That was an embarrassment tonight.

I don't give a F why he left!! You can't coach them up to stop the run, you got problems

We have a 225 pound right defensive end. They ran all over the right side of our line all night. This is not a mystery. It has stunned me that nobody else has abused us in this glaring area of weakness until now.

Also, have you considered what our D Line depth looks like if Clyde or Waller go down? It's scary.

No Huesman has no idea how to coach a talented team. We are 4 and 0 of we still had Rocco.

Moderators Note: Feel free to comment on his coaching all you want. Make it personal again and you'll find you have plenty of time to cool off.

I wasn't counting, but someone in our crowd said after the game the Phoenix ran 25 times to our right side and only 4 times to the left...

no matter where they ran we couldn't stop them...we knew what was coming and we still couldn't stop them...sad and disappointing...

Go Spiders!

We can't get a 4th and one again and this is Rocco's problem give me a break. We make the 3rd and short or the 4th and 1 and the game ends differently. There is something seriously wrong with that.

By the way why did we go for 2. We're up 4, if we get the 2 it makes the lead 6, which does nothing. In fact after exchanging scores that 1 point we should have made would have given us a lead and forced them to consider going for 2. I really don't get that call.

Bottom line, we lost to Elon, at home. Playoffs!! Playoffs!!. Done

It's not just that we have a 225 end. It's that our DTs are DEs. For all the claim that Rocco's defensive line was to have 3 guys that just took up blocks...we don't have a lot of guys that take up blocks. If the Dline depth didn't care you enough, look at the LB depth and secondary depth. Or maybe the Oline depth? I agree we have a lot of QBs, RBs & WRs.

As for defensive scheme, I don't know if it matters. Sure seemed like we had 8 in the box most of the night. Also seemed like we played Day as a 3rd LB a decent amount as well. Elon just ran it right over us.

Despite all that, if not for the 4 turnovers we likely win the game.

Defense wins games!

On this defense, Clyde, Waller, Mainsah and Rubin are top end CAA players. There may be some young guys like Daniel Jones that can work their way into that conversation in a year. Other than that, the talent is sorely lacking.

Top end? Where were they?

Momentum changer -- going for 2 and not getting it.

The play call for the 2 point conversion was horrible. No one on left side to spread D. Lauletta was was basically throwing the ball into 11 defenders crammed into 1/4 of the end zone.

How about #29 jumping up after a tackle and doing the Incredible Hulk pose after the guy had run over him for 300 yards prior.

G Collins needs to be our primary running back! Give that man the ball!

Apparently recruiting to be competitive in the CAA is far different than recruiting in the SoCon. You cannot compete in the SECish CAA with undersized linemen.

Because the only area we have any sort of depth of defensive talent is secondary.
DB are not stopping the run, so put Day or one of the other linebackers in to help stop the run. Our run defense was horrible. 368 yards rushing!!!!!
