Just about 24 hours to go until another matinee game, so seems like a good time to kick off a thread about our final scheduled OOC opponent and last game before the Christmas break.
The Pride are currently 3-3, with their most impressive result probably being Saturday's game against Bona where they fell behind big early, but came all the way back to actually take a lead late in the second half but couldn't hold on. Otherwise, they've beaten Monmouth, Stony Brook, and Fairleigh Dickinson and lost by 14 to a ranked Rutgers team and by 8 to Pitino's Iona squad.
Hofstra is an experienced squad, but did lose a couple of top scorers from last year in Buie and Pemberton. Even with that, experienced guys are shouldering the scoring load and the Pride were picked to win the CAA in the conference preseason poll, while most other season previews have them picked in the 1-2 range. They are ranked 156 in KenPom, 128 in BPI, and 110 in RPI.
Guards Jalen Ray and Tareq Coburn are each averaging 18ppg, with Ray particularly on a tear the past couple of games. Forward Isaac Kante was preseason first-team all-CAA, and is currently averaging a double-double.
