Hofstra Pride - 2PM Tuesday

Please no more top 25 talk, greatest team of all time talk, NCAA talk. This team has a lot of work to do to just get into the top 4 in the league. Beaten by the CAA with the second string coach.

This team just isn't that good right now. We don't shoot well and don't defend well. CM totally outclassed again. The Hofsta interim coach scholled CM out of timeouts by running plays that got his team baskets. Sad performance by this team. Very disappointing but after the way we have played the last couple of games, not a surprising result.

30-7, then tied at 55.

Not that we shouldn't play a lot better than this!
And? They were still down 30-7 and lost by 8. Proves we can still lose to mediocre teams with Mooney at the helm even with "the best team ever."

I wonder if the Athletic and national writers that were dancing on the billboard guys grave are going to submit a retraction. Mooney has his head up his you know what. This was a good response to losing Weir. What's next: Burton decides to defer for the season and re-opens commitment.

I actually don't think sky is falling completely, but this team really lacking in any type of fire early in the season. Davidson doesn't look like any type of dominant team to me, and we have owned them lately, but we really need a strong start in the A10.

We better win the A-10 tourney because anything less.....means no dance for us at this point.
Actually UR probably needs to win the conference regular season because there may not be an A10 tournament. Already lots of talk about no tournaments for mid-majors because they would lose revenue.

We badly miss Sherod. Right now the only guy who can seemingly get a bucket at will is Golden. Francis tries, but is not shooting well. I think we need Gilyard to step up as a scorer because he is capable, but often plays passive trying to get others involved

correct. Why all losses take on even more importance. No urgency no d. Could not afford this result. Not bc Hofstra is bad they aren’t. This game along w Loyola were actually the 2 to help the numbers as mid major league favorites. The KY game we’ll get little return we can’t count on a big turnaround from them at this point. Unfortunately we r looking like a paper tiger & that’s not acceptable w all the all time players - on paper - that we have.

I felt so sorry for these guys not getting to play in the tournament last year and then losing Sherod. Thought they would enter this year with a fire in the belly and a desire to show how good we are.
No fire, no defense, no enthusiasm, no killer instinct. Looks like they think they can play any way they want and their experience will win it for them at the end.
Very frustrating just like recent years. Get mad Chris!!
Plus Greg Beckwith has the same attitude..."no worries, we can get some steals", "no worries, we have been in these situations before". Then in the last minute of play, speaking of our opponents "these guys are a really good team Bob!".
What the heck, Merry Christmas all!

The A-10 is 4–5 against the CAA this year, but 5–2 against the SEC.
For some reason I thought it was worse.
Maybe I thought LaSalle was 0-2 instead of 2-0 (their only D1 wins...)

The more things change the more they stay the same...

I wish I could feel better about this season considering we’ve been waiting a long time for the stars to align for us to have this experienced a team.

I'm sure I will get beat up, but I'm just gonna say it anyway. I don't like Francis, don't like his game, don't like his shot, don't like his defense, don't like his cavalier attitude. His free throw shooting is pitiful for a guard. So he got 27 against Chicago, big whoop. I wish he was at the end of the bench, past the walk on guys. Go with a guard with some fire in the belly, give Wilson a shot. Or go taller, and start Gustavson. I'm just sick of watching Francis getting his 38 minutes a game.
So have at me...

I was at the game today...likely only 1 i will see in person this yr...obviously sad to see our play and the result but really embarrassed by the lack of fam support...with about 100 people there, no one was making any noise until late in the first half...the hofstra bench was drowning us out.....we better get better fan support at home or we may go under .500 at home

Please tell us how you get in to see a game. I'll scream my lungs out (except for Francis)

With a senior laden team if that makes a difference it is more pathetic than I thought. Our bench can go nuts as well...those guys aren’t getting many minutes as it is.

So the loud Hofsta bench was a factor? Haha. Give me a break. There is no reason to lose this game with this team. Absolutely no excuse.

Way it's going to be. I would call that "family" support not fans, they're fans on some level of course but can't put that on fans we're not allowed. With maybe 20 players and coaches that r allowed to bring in some family members not sure how many we can really expect on a Tues afternoon when they live all over the world and heading home after game. Doubt the comp ticket allotment is very high either. What was your connection?

Fan spport of 100 people is needed to motivate a senior ladened team? Sorry but that is ridiculous. Ive heard excuses before but that takes the cake.

Hofstra played a smart game. Their big man, Kante, drove to the basket and was 7 of 8. He played like a big man with 16 pts, 11 boards. Then Ray was a smooth shooter. I was working and watching, so I'm not sure who was covering Ray-maybe he took advantage of the height advantage, even though he is listed at 6 ft 2. Hats off to Hofstra for playing a really good game. They hit the big shots down the stretch, and the Spiders missed. Their coach was smart to stick to the zone and take away many aspects of the Princeton Offense. Maybe the Spiders could have also switched to zone for at least part of the game. Also, I notice we didn't rebound too well on the offensive side- one and done. Cayo's foul trouble probably didn't help. Hopefully, the Spiders will learn from this loss.

Told those around me after 5 minutes of the first half that we would lose. Played and coached a lot of ball for a lot of years and you can just tell. The team had a look and attitude about them that just said so. I hope they can turn it around. The fire they had last year to prove everyone wrong is not there. You just can't show up. Nick's absence can't be overstated.
