Hofstra Pride - 2PM Tuesday

All true SF, and and another issue the fact a 20 point lead is not safe for us or any team with more than 4 or 5 minutes left. The 3 ball allows other teams to go on quick 10 point runs, which makes it hard to be too comfortable with a big lead until real late in a game.
That's just a theoretical response for "any team". We have already proven we have trouble in 2nd half holding leads, but you can't just generalize and project to other teams. A look at stats from other teams with 20 point leads and time duration indicated would either support or negate your generalization.

It happens all over the place. Did you see VT Miami last night? VT was up 17 with 15 minutes left, still up 13 with 10 minutes left, up 9 with 1:30 left and won by 2 after Miami missed a shot at the end. Miami made 5 3s in the final 10 minutes. It happens. Teams often get hot after being cold early.

How about VCU JMU? VCU up 20 with 10 minutes left and still up 13 with 4 minutes left? Safe? Not at all. JMU went on a 10-0 run ( 25-8 run since the 10 minute mark) to make it a 3 point game with 1:30 left, and lost by 1.

Good anecdote. Sorry that your former team also could not hold a lead.

I've been watching basketball since I was a kid & long before the advent of the 3 point shot. I'll guarantee to you that on balance more teams hold leads than give it up. Maybe the stats guy...I think his user name was Fan2011????? can run some numbers to support this. From his posts last year, I have to think he's got a good data base or access to one because he was always posting with metric support.
