hmm. we just offered a JuCo

Not that well, didn’t even make the hall of fame...
Where did you get your information? I think you better check your information again my friend. He was inducted into Richmond's Hall of Fame as well as being named an All-American both years he was at Richmond. He was drafted during his junior and senior years at Richmond.

Carolina, he was SoCon player of year in his junior year but was transplanted by Steve McCurdy who led the nation in scoring his senior year. Together the two of them led Richmond to their first winning season in 16 years.

It wasn't because it couldn't play. Dude was a baller.
Apparently other issues have prevented his getting more notariaty at UR. Also speaking of Transfer greats Bob McCurdy He and Aaron Steward had one year together. Watch McCurdy play was amazing, triple teamed and he'd still fill it up.

He wasn't signed by Cleveland and cut by the Va Squires, played a short time overseas but didn't like it.....

Bob McCurdy. Steve was his brother.

I thought everyone knew that he should have been in the hall of fame but still wasn’t after a lot of time...until 2010.

It' Bob not Steve who was top scorer

We also had Sly Gray (I think Gray) from Essex in those years. He was good but got in trouble and was dismissed from the team.

Mooney too good to look at a JUCO in the past, now after 13 years changing his tune. Tarrant would have scoured the earth to ensure he had enough players. Mooney will only do so when his seat is hot. Though 32 jump right in and tell us how cool it is so we are all fully aware that we have years more of mediocrity.

Revisionist history..Dick didn't always play 9 guys. Two of our best teams, we had a very short bench.

We beat Auburn w/ 6 players... Tim hardin was our only sub, Goss got on the court for a few minutes.

Two years later, we had a grand total of 7 bench minutes vs. St. Joe's. Yes JD was hurt and couldn't play.

Don't forget that DIck was responsible for Lee Goss, Joe Runk, Robert Tucker, Chris Powell, David Phillips, Gary Rich. Again, not demeaning his accomplishments, but he had his share of misses.

Man oh man are you missing the point big time. DT played to win. All The Time. He missed badly on some recruits but then went out and got a Terry Connolly, Rodney Rice from BC, he did not stop, he filled the roster holes. Totally missing the point here.

And you are making my point with Wienecki. Future ass kicking player of the year on the bench. Look at the second 5 when we beat Syracuse. DEPTH baby. He had it waiting in the wings, A REAL coach, like Kenny Atkinson now.

Also, keep in mind that this was before "media timeouts."

it was also before the shot clock, and 3 point shot --- easier to slow down a game when DT was Coach

Watched his video. Nice looking player. But I suppose the competition at Southwest Mississippi Community College is not exactly A-10. Let's see who else offers. Right now, it appears to be mainly SWAC teams, so that is not all that encouraging.

If this kid can play, good coaches and programs will come a knocking.

This kid seems athletic as hell. He must be terrible on defense or have no shooting skills or something or else everyone would be involved with him.

definitely athletic as hell. not a shooter. that's got to be holding back the bigger programs.
in 27 games, 16-54 from 3 (29.6%). on the plus side, he missed his first 11. so from that point on he shot 16-43 (37.2%)
only 89-156 from the foul line (57.1%)
rebounded like a maniac (9.3 rpg), especially on the offensive end (4.1)
had a 1.5 assist to turnover ratio and averaged 2.9 apg.
16.2 ppg
1.0 steals and 1.1 blocks per.

my understanding is he was a qualifier out of HS, made the choice to move to JuCo after FR year, I'm sure to open more options

yes, and if you transfer to juco you can play and not sit out. he clearly boosted his stock with a very strong juco season.
still ... if it even gets that far it will be interesting to see how admissions deals with this.

Keep in mind location and admissions may have been issues here.

Then why did we recruit and offer him in the first place? Mooney's been here 13 years. It's a requirement by now that he understand who he can and can't admit. Getting tired of this as an excuse.

Interesting that Roydell, a guard, chose McNeese after the Spiders hosted two guard recruits on Friday.
