High Point Showdown in DC

Other than yourself - I mean, it's bad form to criticize someone for not attending if you weren't there - who were the other nine REAL fans on hand?

I just knew nothing good could come from us winning a game.

Not understanding your post. I was there supporting the Spiders. I do completely get why many want us to lose tho. I’ve had those same thoughts. Yet me and my friend were loudest spider fans there. If that isn’t an indictment of the current state of things I don’t know what is. A fan who wouldn’t mind seeing us fail bc he knows we need it to advance the program cheered the hardest.

Granted that wasn’t difficult when nobody showed. The point of my post was to point out the facts bc it was strange. I did not expect many UR fans but more than showed & I didn’t expect so many more HP fans. HP showed well. Maybe they r excited about Tubby and we r the opposite. I’ve gone to many games in DC area in past and never seen anything like that. You want me to identify fans I don’t know? I did talk to a couple. I can gladly identify player families or UR employed fans if you would like. If u think I’m exaggerating about the number of fans I don’t think anyone who was there could dispute it.

Anacostia area. But yes very rough area. Not too far from Nats Park which did a lot for its Anacostia river area but this area is farther in. Not too far from MGM Harbor really either. It is home of Wiz g league team & Wash Mystics. Think trying to get events there. Hampton & Howard played after us. Doubleheader. Think called DCholidayclassic or something like that. Maybe they’ll try to get Goo Moos or GW next year. Nice intimate arena just have uphill climb with surrounding area. I will say everyone was very nice probably bc they realize lot of attendees first impression.
Why on earth did we play this game? A neutral site against a poorly rated team??? I can only guess it was our attempt to help this new facility in a what is/was a rough part of DC? Any other guesses?

Of the 25 UR fans how many were using walkers or carrying O2 tanks?

I missed the rule that prohibited fans with walkers and O2 tanks. If they were there then they are better fans than me cause I wasn't there. How about you FRS. Were you there? I'm tired of your same old hack about the age of fans so start showing up or shut up.

Watching the game on the home of Spider sports, Facebook Live, I learned a few things:

• DC has a G League team
• For reasons unknown, it is called the Go Go
• Pops Mensah-Bonsu is its GM

Isn’t Nats Park north of the Anacostia River? While rough, I always though that area wasn’t in as bad a shape as the area south of the river.

Go Go was a popular music genre of the 60's and 70's that originated in that part of DC. I used to go to Chuck Brown shows in that area in the 1980's.

Yes. Nats Park is just North right along Anacostia River. I meant to write this St. Elizabeths arena is farther out not in. But they are both Southeast DC which is roughest area historically. They r only 3 miles apart. South of River much worse agreed where this St. Elizabeths arena located. Nats Park drove lot of development in that navy yard area by Anacostia River tho. It always had potential as prime real estate not far from Capitol Hill and now DC seeing it. So the gap has only increased.

Yes, I had to visit the Waterfront area (seemed mostly blue collar immigrants) often 2001-2007 so saw the area from there to the Anacostia. And heard the other side was much worse but never needed to go there.

Just like visitors often mean Manhattan when they say NYC, most mean NW when they say DC.

Until our university builds a larger base of VIRGINIANS in the student body, I will continue to point out the current demographic of our local fan base. Fortunately the university is starting to rebuild its appeal to Virginians. It will take several years to repair the damage that was done over the last couple of decades. And by the way, I will Not shut up!

It sounded as if you were criticising the small turnout. I did not know you were actually there, so big props to you for supporting the team. I cannot in person, it's a long commute from the Left Coast ( I did attend one home football game this year).

I want us to win as many games as possible. If that's not enough and we make a change, then I'll want his successor to win as many games as possible as well.

Andre is in the doghouse. That much was very evident. I don’t get it he should be playing lot more.

I think taking Andre out after 30 seconds for body up foul on ball is bad thinking. He has played and shows us he can manage team. Then I see a foul 3 point shooter and nothing. This greatest team ever next year story is very sad thinking. I watch the video of the short interview and say I don want to wait next year again I dont want to wait till end of year play again just what a fan thinks. Andre Keep the Fight , close out strong because you will not become the bullfighter no matter what , thank you, you block the shot, you are strong on the dribbler, thank you.
