@ Fordham 1/18/2022

Fordham is not good, but they have been better than expected. They have played a weak schedule, and just got dominated by SLU. This will be similar to the UMASS game where I think we will get a big lead, let them back in it in the 2nd half - but win comfortably. And at the end - we will think everything is fixed, but really we just played a bad team.

Who is "we"? I don't think there is a holdout left on the board. Now if you mean Mooney, Philly Bob, Matt Smith & Jabba. Then yes. Not sure we can put the players in that mix anymore. Many don't get it as evidenced by their comments over the years, however by this point some mutiny type thoughts have to be in their minds. Not suggesting an actual mutiny but human nature says they're thinking "I came back for this?" or the bench guys thinking why r these older guys playing so much just to underperform again. We've already seen it with player parents.

I would love to know what is going on in the minds of the players. Gilly, Grant, Sherod all had these announcements last Spring, that they were coming back to wash the bad taste of last year out of their mouth. Well, turns out they just are recycling the same crap from last year.

I haven't seen evidence of any type of fractured locker room but as you say human nature would suggest there has to been some grumbling.

And what is up with Dji, everytime he sees the court, everyone likes him, but since Goose is back, he is been relegated to the pine. Dad has been silent too. Something is up.

All I know is that if we somehow end up shitting the bed against Fordham, things are no longer going to be OK in Mooneyland. I don't think things are OK now, and frankly if they are OK, that is probably worse than if they are not. No one should be OK with this.

Goose’s return did lead to less time for Dji. Everyone knew that would happen. However, what is up is that Dji is getting hit by the injury bug and was back on crutches before the last game. Seems that he cannot shake his ankle issue.

I would guess that Dad has been silent because there is nothing really new to talk about and obviously it becomes a drag when there is nothing positive to report.

With Dji injured with sprained ankle and Crabtree having a bad game for the few minutes he was in(2 sloppy TOs in a row and then benched), our dependency was on Gus playing more. Wilson still is an enigma on offense and I just feel he tries to force way too much with his decisions on offense. Last game we had low TOs but we still made some poor shot selections that were almost like a turnover to me(especially Grant and Burton). One solution to our slow starts, may be installing Gus as a starter and placing Wilson on Bench.

Thanks didn't realize Dji was injured.

Didn't know he was injured either.

If I were Mooney and coaching for my job right now, I would start Goose - play him as much as possible and shorten the bench to Grace, Sherod, and Crabtree. I would tell Gil and Burton - your playing 40 minutes. And I would tell Grant - you will play as much as you can.

In New York Fordham is advertising on sports radio trying to get people togo to the games and their tagline is… “there is no better time than now to become a Rams fan.”
How delusional can an administration be??? They believe that they can put no effort into creating a winning program and be the last place team in your division for 10 years straight, but get people to suddenly want to spend money and become Rams fans?? Wow some AD’s are clueless. It reminded me of another program that is believing that fans will still come even when losing has become the culture.

But do we want that? What future do we have? Let the underclassman play. Or at least only rhe ones coming back next year. This season is toast.

Dad told us before the last game.

the current starting lineup isn't getting us off to good starts. Goose isn't the shooting answer. Nick is shooting well. I'd go back to starting him. I like offensive guys to come right out of warmups and play. defense first guys can work in off the bench.

but I'm not shortening the bench. that makes no sense. if anything I'm going deeper. Wilson certainly has to play. you don't bury him.

I'm in favor of starting Nick, too. We can't stop anyone on defense anyway, and we can't score at the beginning of games. Would be nice to not be losing by 14 after five minutes for a change.

Nothing up on our end…just life stuff on my end. Dji’s ankle is healing slowly so not sure when he’ll be back. The swelling is down but it is ugly to look at 😩. From my standpoint I think Coach is going to the play older guys more no matter what. There is a change coming tonight but even if Dji was healthy not sure it would matter for him, jmo. Basically, he just has to get healthy and keep working, he knows it & only frustrated at the fact he keeps getting little injuries. Someone in another thread said they didn’t think it was loyalty to older guys but I simply disagree. So, if we are looking towards the future, that same loyalty will be showed to him. Hoping that we can right the ship this season and I know these guys care…a lot. Let’s get this win tonight 🕷🏀

Stepped on Zays foot coming off a screen day before Davidson. According to coaches it looked really nasty. X rays were negative and it looked like he had a softball on the side of his foot. This year he has been injured more than anytime ever in his career 😢 So hopefully this season will be more than enough to last for his next few yrs 🙏🏼

No doubt it is Mooney's loyalty to older players. Many of us have watched Mooney's System and player choices for 17 years. His starters and substitution patterns are like concrete. Mooney has stuck with the loyalty approach with certain starters through the years even though they became liabilities or if there were better skills sitting on the bench.

Odds Fordham makes 2 out of first 3 three s ?
I'm tempted to say pretty good, but Fordham is awful from three.

Amazingly, we faced the 2nd and 3rd best three-point shooting teams in the entire country in our last two games.

Without looking, my guess is our defense didn't hurt either of them.

Fordham is atop us in the conference standings. Buckle the **** up and win the damn game. Give us some more hope before you break our hearts again

I wouldn’t have been able to take it if there wasn’t a change in the starting lineup tonight. Looking forward to Dji’s chance in the starting 5!
Ridiculous that we had to lose many games before Mooney was willing to make a change. Jerk.

Also, how long has this Ohams guy been on Fordham? Feels like forever, but maybe that's just because no one stays at Fordham for more than two years.

So why is this game not showing on ESPN+. Even though it’s listed on the ESPN+ site

Fordham has no killer instinct, but they dont' really need it. They're having the game handed to them.

The last time this team (19-20) played Fordham we struggled mightily before winning by 6. Expecting a big win by us would’ve been foolish
