97 I don’t think we were looking great for a good chunk of the game but this about them making us play our starters the full 40 just isn’t true. Golden played 20, Cayo 22, and Goose 29. Three starters played under 30 and two bench guys played over 20.It's Fordham, minus their best player, playing in an empty gym and they made us play our starters the full 40 minutes.
I think you missed the point. A team like Fordham should have resulted in all 20 of our players touching the court as it shouldn’t have been close.97 I don’t think we were looking great for a good chunk of the game but this about them making us play our starters the full 40 just isn’t true. in a normal non-Covid non-super-senior season, Dji would likely be getting all the minutes he could handle. our super seniors are playing 108 mpg.Glad his old teammates are experiencing the same thing. Not overly surprising since all of last year’s seniors got the extra year option and those players did not count against a scholarship cap (of course the schools still had to have the money available to offer a scholarship).
The game was in doubt until late in the second half. That’s the point. ( UR up 1 with 7 minutes left). I think changing players was more an attempt to find a working combination.97 I don’t think we were looking great for a good chunk of the game but this about them making us play our starters the full 40 just isn’t true. Yes, that was my point. Against a team like Fordham, guys like Sal, Randolph, Crabtree, Wilson should be closing the game out. That didn't happen because the game was in doubt until the final 4 minutes or so. Gilly was out there the whole time.I think you missed the point. Curious - And maybe this has been discussed previously in a thread, but does anyone know why Randolph didn't red-shirt? It's not like he's really getting playing time.I'm sure it has to be frustrating for Randolph to be using up a year of eligibility and having played like a total of 5 minutes of game. I'm sure he knew he wasn't getting a ton of time this year but probably also thought, I'm going to get a fair amount of mop up game minutes this year but that hasn't materialized because we play to level of our inferior competition.
It is the player's decision. Given that the other freshman all decided to redshirt, I feel pretty confident that Randolph was also offered this option. I don't know if he thought he was going to get PT or not (but geez, if he knew Mooney, he had to know that answer to that question).Curious - And manbe this has been discussed previously in a thread, but does anyone know why Randolph didn't red-shirt? Seems like it must have been his choice. Maybe he just knows he wants to be out in four years.Curious - And maybe this has been discussed previously in a thread, but does anyone know why Randolph didn't red-shirt? It's not like he's really getting playing time.
There was a question to Mooney awhile back in a press conference and he said that the decision was made by each individual player. I am also fairly certain that CM also said that Marcus was the most college play ready, so I am sure Marcus was told he would have a chance to contribute. Granted the chance was not great and probably would hinge on injuries more than anything else. We haven’t seen much of him on the court, but he has looked rather confident for a freshman to me. I hope he does manage to get into a few more games this year.Seems like it must have been his choice. Maybe he just knows he wants to be out in four years.
