I cannot believe he started Taylor. Even us stupid lay people can tell that Marshall Wood needs to get into a rhythm, and he can't do that coming in 5-6 minutes at a time. Let's see, Wood started two games and made 12 3-pointers. He made one today. Yeah, fire Mooney.....

Thought Taylor played very well. MW couldn't hit, but I don't think it was because he didn't start. Had we hit our normal 3s and hadn't missed 10 free throws, we'd have one. The T at the end was a bonehead play. Also missed 3 layups in the 1st half. Defense was better than in any other game this year...not great, but better.

Better D on the perimeter but flip side we gave up open lanes to the hoop all day. And O rebounds

Bud, that defense SUCKED!!!! 84 should be enough to beat anybody in this po-dunk league.

Unless we are able to find some rich fat cat to pay Mooney's ! million dollar salary while we pay a new head coach. Is not going to happen. WE ARE STUCK WITH mooney til 2021. meanwhile the LAMBS ARE LAUGHING.

Taylor never looks to score, because he can't. The bar is so low for him, Billy, that he gets 2 points, a few rebounds, and a couple of steals, and you think it's a great game for him. When Taylor is no offensive threat, that means Allen gets double teamed all the time. Even when Wood isn't scoring, at least they have to defend him. If you watch game replays, you will see Allen gets many more opportunities to drive the basket when Marshall Wood is in the game. HE NEEDS TO START.

Does anyone have the balls to ask Mooney any hard questions at the radio show??? He literally has the easiest job in the world.

I send in email questions, and only safe answer questions are asked. May be
few of you local boys need to go to lunch to where he can't avoid your questions.

Brother, they don't let us near a microphone at Joes Inn. They sit in the corner with their backs against the wall. Only the Super Secret Fan Ivan has total access. :)

We're not firing Mooney. St. Joe's hasn't fired Martelli after several mediocre seasons. Mooney is in the same boat as him. The only way Mooney leaves is if there is a huge scandal or his health fails. The way he works out in the Weinstein Center eliminates the 2nd one.

To the poster(s) annoyed with season ticket holders selling/giving tickets to vdu fans - perhaps they are making a statement as to the direction of the program.

CM in his press conference after the game said we might have had tired legs near the end and that he needed to use his bench a little more. How many times now has he said this? Another point - one way to save the legs, especially when you have a short bench, is to go zone, even if just occasionally.

Rrour sports info departments job is not to make our own staff look stupid, classless, or incompetent. There are other people itching to do that.

I do think it's easy to get overcooked in the aftermath of one of these losses. Things often look worse than in fact they are. That said, we handed them that game and there's plenty of room for players and coach to take a hard look in the mirror.

Wonder if Mooney has ever written "Rebound" on his white board while having a manager or players' meeting???

I am more concerned about our sorry ass ticket holders who sell or give their VCU tickets to VCU fans.
I have already railed on those "Rich Season Ticket Holders" that needed $22 so damn bad that they sold out their fellow fans. Sad to see.

In section 16, in the highest price seats in the first and second rows (which I can't afford) that also require the highest donation to the Spider Club, there were 8 f'ing Ram fans.
That means that those people were gifted tickets by one of our so called VIP ticket holders.
To me that sucks and they can keep their damn money. And someone should tell them so imho.

I am positive that out best 5 are better than their best 5, difference is we have NO bench.
You have a better player than Mo Alie-Cox? You have a better player than JeQuan Lewis? You have a better player than Melvin Johnson? You have a better player than Korey Billbury? Please show them to me. Plus one of our starters and better defenders, Burgess, has missed the last few games.

:D Where was he down the stretch, when those VCU players I mentioned were all stepping up?
Hood you idiot, we had a ball on the rim with 5 seconds left at the end of Reg and OT to win the game. Could have gone either way. Went our way last year at the RC and your way this year. A technical should have been called on Wade for running on to our floor like a damn mad man. Inexplicable no call.

I agree that CM could have done a much better job today with things like defensive adjustments and making sure we only put 5 men on the floor out of a freaking timeout. That being said, we still were in position to win the game. CM can't make free throws. If you want to win close games, you have to execute down the stretch. You can't have turnovers and missed free throws. I'm just saying it's not all on the coach. The players have to make open shots and free throws.

In 'The Last word with Coach Mooney' on radio pregame today Bob asked Mooney about starting Taylor coming off 2 game absence.

Mooney replied that he didn't think it was right to take a player out of the starting lineup because of an injury.

Well how about after 4 years he is still very one dimensional? While on the floor he allows the opposing defense to help out on the players who can score.

For what he offers DT played well but he can't score and after 4 years it isn't going to improve

Forget the fact that the guy who started in Taylor's place won one game singled handed and lit the fire that won the other one. Nice call Coach. Anyone with half a brain can see that Marshall Wood is a rhythm shooter.

I agree, I think it is important for MW to start because he seems to be the a guy that really needs to be in the flow. Just look at his production in the 2 games he has started. I am not saying don't play DT, but MW has to start.

When you are getting beat off the bounce, play zone.
When you aren't shooting 3s great, go inside.
When players get tired from playing a lot, sub them out

Counting TD as a 3, we played 1 guard today and another one for 6 total minutes. The most bothersome thing is that very basic things are going wrong and we aren't adjusting. You don't have to be a coach to know some of these are fixable

We dropped 84 points on the 37th best scoring defense in the country today. Scoring is not the problem, it's our crappy defense and rebounding which is the finishing part of your defense!!!! We work hard for 30 seconds and then let a team dump it in the zone and keep shooting until they make it. It's so frustrating to see NO ONE taught to box out or use TWO hands to secure the ball!!! Embarrassing
