Fire Mooney

Hardt is going to get sore arms from moving the goalposts every year if he does that.
He hasn't been here that many years, but he's already become indoctrinated. I challenge him to make a mgmt decision based upon the merits of time, pass / fail, and realistic expectations for the program's future under current leadership. Time has passed us by I'm afraid.

A small group of big supporters giving big money is all that matters. It's like having a really great castle but everyone can't stand the king. Mostly everyone can't stand the king and how he rules. It takes a leader to finally say "I am taking out the king"

23, I'm starting Grace at the 5 unless someone better walks through the door ... which I doubt. Wilson's my point. and our two best are Burton and a healthy Crabtree. that's 4.
pick the 5th from Sal, Goose, and Dji.

I'd like the 5th to be Sal but that makes Crab a really big 2 which would not be typical Mooney. in the little we've seen him, Dji seems like a Goose clone: good handle, good defense, slasher. if Dji is a consistent outside shooter, he has the advantage. but if it's a tie, advantage to the Mooney senior.

we've seen two Burton's this year. we need the really good one every night. and a healthy Crabtree. give me those and I feel pretty good.
We will be lucky to see any Burton next year.

Age 72, 5'9", 155lbs, still do 10k's and play 6 hours of tennis a week. Never spent a night in a hospital. Got both covid vaccinations.

Better start working out, bro...
Rick, can still get a 15 year term life policy for practically nothing!! 😊

Before or after you jump around like a teenage girl at a Harry Styles concert outside the Robins Center to shake Mooneys hand for beating Kentucky?
Got me there. I was duped earlier this year have to admit. I really thought maybe Mooney turned a corner when they beat Kentucky and I wanted to properly congratulate the team and him for that. Then about a month later after the Hofstra loss I realized it was just the same old Mooney. He made me look like an idiot this year.

& injuries got us to here in the first place. Golden and Sherod had medical redshirts or they would already be out of eligibility. I love that excuse. The injuries arguably are what saved his job last time and allowed him to proclaim the "best class ever"
I agree. I can’t remember but what would have been the starting lineups this year and last without the medical redshirts?

And you are a Veteran! That counts for "can do" attitude just like our best coach!

We have zero depth. Basically a total struggle to get any point today. Can't hold a lead. Nothing changes ever with injuries. Regardless of injuries and covid the same strategy. Hope the shot goes in. If the shot doesn't go in, use excuses and take zero ownership. Still collect a million dollar check somehow? No wonder this is a failure. No game is a guarantee. Basically with Mooney when baskets aren't made the whole game goes down the tube. Can't even win a gimme game with Duquesne.

I think you misunderstood my post. I am in the camp that based on the results this year - he should be let go. We should fire him.

What I was saying is get ready for the athletic department to spin it as such that we were an NCAA team last year, but COVID stopped the tourney. Our team and coach battled COVID this year along with 3 separate pauses to make the NIT and win a game or two. And above all - Chris is a fine person and as such will be rewarded with a 2-3 year extension after this season.

I am not saying I agree with that logic - I am just saying get ready for the article by JOC and letter from Hardt that outlines all this the day after he inks the extension.
no way we make the NIT!!! No way!! Lost 3 of 4 in embarrassing fashion and ended up 8th in the A10. This season is over and senior careers are over. Just too bad Mooney’s isnt.

The same roster last year couldn't do it either. Never get the job done. Thats exactly what we do here. Never finish the project just delay. And find excuses and no show ownership. Totally joke with a clown in the middle. I can see the elephants are coming into the room. Let Mooney get a 15 minute head start.

Who gives a shit? Our own AD doesn’t.

“Just cut your donation check and shut the hell up. I’ve got this..”

Absolutely unconscionable this was our season. 8 seed playing in the ultra high profile Thurs matinee.

It was the worst coached and managed season I've ever seen, following any sport in my life. On this season alone it's justified. But we also have FIFTEEN other years of history.

Yet 90% I bet he's back.

2 NCAA's in 16 years. TWO.
7-20 vs. VCU. I really believe that is unmatched anywhere for a coach at this level for being in same job. 7-20!
5-9 in last 9 years in A10 tourney. Not once beating a higher seed!
Preseason A10 #1. Top 25. End up 8 seed in A10.
The lies about Covid
Never once finishing first in A10 in 16 years.
And the future is decidedly NOT bright.

I thought our depth was going to be our strength this year! Sold another bill of goods by the Mooneyites.

Yep, I am going to try to talk myself into having some optimism next year, with Mooney back I am about 80% sure he has to be.

To have a good season next year - top 4-5 in A10:

Starting backcourt will need to be 2 of these 3 guys: Wison, Dji and Nelson. I'm a Goose fan, but he does not shoot it good enough from 3, and feel he is well suited to be a solid big minutes guy off the bench. If he is starting scoring will be an issue I believe. Would love to see a fully healthy Nelson and Wilson battle it out for point guard, with Dji winning the 2 guard spot over Goose. Sorry Spiderdad, but Mooney does not like to seem to start big guards, so my gut is he doesn't hand the job to Goose, he will go with small ball backcourt, but pulling for DJI to win the job by merit.

Burton continue same progression, which would put him as a 1st team all A10.

Cayo come back.

Sal progress and take the next step.

Find a transfer big man that can step on the court from day one and impact winning. Anyway you can, like your job depends on it.

1 or 2 of our wing recurits (Randolph, Dread, Noise) is capable of being in the rotation, and one is even a break out freshman.

Lot has to happen, but it is possible. It is getting harder and harder to believe Mooney can do it though. Win the A10 tourney and you may be able to get some mojo back.
Nothing to apologize for my man😀 ...what makes Dji special is his versatility. I think the staff sees Dji as more as a combo which is cool. At the end of the day he's a basketball player and I think this board/fans will eventually see what he will add. I might disagree with you on Nelson. The turf toe injury is tough as is that recovery which could extend 6 months. Hopefully it won't but I would say Nelson may find himself in the same position Dji was in-coming in with injury and rehab. I think that set Dji back more than anything, at least from physical standpoint. If the Srs. don't come back we will be young & inexperienced for the most part. I think our priority has to be to find a legit Big this off season. I always stay positive with Dji...have too, hes still a 18yr kid. He's very motivated to grind this summer out and show what he can do when he's given the opportunity. 🕷🏀

I was a huge Mooney fan at the beginning and especially after the NCAA years. He presented a great image and brought in a system and recruits that had us competing despite the limits of being a small school with tough academic standards. Those glorious days in March in Atlantic City!! I have always hated our softness and inability to maintain a lead during Coach Mooney’s tenure. The scoring droughts as seen today have plagued his time as coach. I lost focus on the team and was ambivalent a few years ago when noise for his ouster really started increasing. But it’s well past time to move on. Fire Mooney.
