was very happy with the recruit class today, the staff did a great job , if we did bring in an fbs transfer or two , i would say quarterback , and maybe a running back with a little size, i think the last two years would have been different with a j hines , but it is what is , merry christmas , GO SPIDERS.

Agree on QB. I like what we have in Dykes and Howard at RB. We could use some depth on both lines.

We had our radar on this guy from Iowa State but he opted for Bison.
Girlfriend and familiarity with that part of world.Present starter is Easton Stick who is graduating from NDSU.
Has a pretty good chance to start and play in that dome.

i have a question, are they getting no interest from guys wanting to come here or are the guys who want to maybe no better than what we have? and at this point does it have to be a grad transfer or is someone with more than 1 year not an option? maybe everything works out seems the long term option may be the true freshman , and manusco had his moments last year , but another arm in the mix would make me feel alot better

I’ve been wondering the same thing hawk. Maybe a Josh Jackson type comes our way but I’m not sure that a FCS transfer is always better than what’s on the roster (then again I’m not at practice so what do I know?).

Back to the Rice announcement. Is Intelectual Brutaliy the new slogan for fans of Richmond Basketball? Being a fan literally makes my mind hurt most of the time lately...

Admissions doesn’t appreciate transcripts for other schools unless the individual has a 20% overage on the minimum number of semester
hours completed. In other words 72 hours for a kid with 2 years of eligibility.Even with that, “basket weaving” courses get nixed.Hence the probability of a more likely shot at admittance is via the graduate transfer route.

okay that makes sense , so it takes allready small field and makes it smaller , i thought i had heard coach russ they were in contract with six guys last year about a transfer , but he liked his quarterbacks better , was hoping we would catch lighting in a bottle again like with michael strauss , sure does make you appreciate what kyle did here , and how important coaching is gonna be , looks like the staff will have to do a good job of qb developement

Strauss and nephew Rocco out of UVa were the ideal solution for DR.
Since then, transfer pressures have proliferated with more players but while it appears that QB graduate transfers are rare, the QB transfer outcomes are usually BCS—>BCS,FCS—>FBS,BCS—>FBS.That basically leaves FBS—->FCS vs. our existing and upcoming roster as the option.

not surprised that russ and staff may have settled on incoming qb JW out of tenn. in 2006 we started a freshman qb ,one eric ward. he won that first game at duke and went on to be the best mistake-free player I ever saw at Richmond. by the way, he's available and could quite possibly make a good qb coach

I don't believe we will see another QB Coach as long as we have the current OC

I'm curious where UR's facilities rank among FCS programs? It seems like the facilities will be a major draw for transfers.
