Drink the kool-aid

think I've only seen Grant dunk in transition. I agree a one handed catch/dunk on an inbounds play in HS shouldn't happen in college. but I'm glad this kid can do it anyway.

my concern here is more with his shooting form than athleticism. I don't think he's a perimeter shooter despite the makes in a highlight reel. but that's ok.
Last time we all got up in arms about Grant not dunking, he went to try and dunk in transition against UMASS, got fouled from behind, fractured his finger, and our season officially went to shit. So I'm a little gun shy on this particular topic.

WTF is mooney wearing in that video? Some neon blue green shirt. Sorry it aggravates me. The trying to be innovative Hannibal lecter mask is one thing & will always be funny to look at. But rep the brand. First it was the Abercrombie & Fitch sweater vest on national TV vs KY. But other examples too. I think every other coach in D1 reps their brand whenever possible if not in a suit on gameday. Moon out there at practice like it’s 80s night.

another example of how bad our contract is. We pay him 1.3 milly a year & it won’t even make him wear U of R gear. Geez.

You need to turn in your Spider Card! With fans like you, enemies we don’t need for sure.

coach carter - Rich what?

turn in spider card...sounds like the ppl who yell “Go Back to XYZ country where you’re from!”

anyway sounds like Mooney needs the spider card...so he can buy & wear some freaking spiders gear. He can borrow my card.

that was definitely a great dunk. I just don't remember many of them.
this one ... while only in practice ... is impressive. height, hang time, and distance.

Doesn't surprise me that he will add something else to his game. Since he got here, he has continued to just add more and more elements to his game. Post up moves, ball handling, free throw shooting. If he wants to add some athletic dunks, I'm all for it. He has turned himself into one heck of a player, and will likely face a lot of double teams this year, opening up some threes for Nick and others.

This is really well described and detailed. Can’t wait to see his game this year.

Hopefully Cayo adds a 15 footer (or 3 point shot would be good too). Agree, this guy has made himself into a very good interior player, especially his post up game. The other team just ignores him when he is 10+ feet from the basket. If he can become a threat from 10-20 feet out, it really helps spread the floor.

great take on Burton and how entire team knows we're better when he's aggressive.

So should this be here? or somewhere else?

That sentence about Burton stepping into the Sherod void was a perfect opportunity to also mention he won A-10 most improved player, but alas, no.

do we know Lunardi is on our payroll?

Yes he was for the last couple years for sure. Also recall Hardt confirming he still was contracted. how long ago cant recall. So very slim possibility he’s no longer but odd to have canned him now with his espn role & our team high NCAA expectations. Maybe after this season they’d say sayonara.

I thought he was just consulting on schedule building to help create one that in some way gave us a better chance to dance. I'd think that's a minimal effort job, and minimal pay for it. not even sure he's still involved.

I'm not debating that we had hired him. I was asking if anyone knew if we still used him. Haven't heard anything about his involvement in a long time. GK remembers a Hardt comment but not sure how long ago that was from.

I also wondered out loud if his pay was anything substantial. I often read here about him being "on our payroll", and some insinuate that they expect more than schedule consulting for that pay.

Sman I agree w 8 legs your “on the payroll” vs just consulting comment was a little confusing. & what I recall was fairly recent within the year but true I’m not certain exactly when. Think JOC even had something on it. Others may know. Gets paid more than u think...from what I’ve been told.

if the insinuate comment was bout me, well I don’t think I insinuate at all about this topic. I’ve come out & said it! The hire had a lot to do w PR purposes. Both bc Moon was under heat at time we announced it & also bc of lunardi espn role. If u don’t believe not sure what else to say. Personally I think it was a dumb hire for # of reasons however what would be even dumber is to now fire him going into the season w very high ncaa chances & he’s in a position to affect public opinion.

I’d double down mortal lock that he’s still on the payroll.

I'm not always clear. and no idea what he even would do with our scheduling. I don't see how he can do much other than prepare a list of teams he suggests we try to play. is that worth a lot of money? I don't think so. if he's getting paid a lot then it's a waste of money. if he's paid little then who cares. paying him to consult, if we still do, may not help but it can't hurt. it can only be a waste of money. so I don't care. not sure why you see it as a big negative.

The Atlantic 10 will have no more than two teams in the 2022 NCAA Tournament
Murphy’s Law has hit this conference with season-ending injuries to Saint Louis’ Javonte Perkins and VCU’s Jamir Watkins and Jarren McAllister. The Atlantic 10 simply can’t absorb hits of that magnitude to two programs who were picked in the top four of the league’s preseason poll. This conference has been trending towards eventually becoming a one-bid league, but a loaded team at St. Bonaventure and an extremely experienced squad at Richmond should find a way into the bracket on Selection Sunday. Anything beyond that would be a massive surprise.

We better be much improved defensively if we want to make the NCAA tournament. It has to improve significantly. I will have to see it to believe it with CM.

How much will the defense have to improve over 2019-2020?

I agree we need to improve defensively from last year, but we saw major improvement two years ago with a lot of the same players, and Bailey and Wilson seem very good defensively. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Significantly
Really? Kenpom had us at 54th defensively that year. With our offense, I would take that every year. 0OC we held Wisconsin to 52 and BC to 44. IC, we held teams to the 50s seven times and 11 times held teams to 64 or less.
