Right now, Dayton is killing Rhode Island, 66-49, with about 4 minutes left. This means that Rhode Island will be 12-5, with a game against St. Joes coming up. URI will be tied with VCU for 4th place. If URI loses again on Saturday, the Spiders could be in 3rd place, assuming we win out.

He is an amazing coach with an Elite Eight run last year, the integrity to enforce team discipline, and the ability to get the most out of his players with right now having a very short bench.

Didn't get to watch it, but I am very surprised. I thought Rhody would beat them because they are a really bad matchup for Dayton. Whoops. Guess not. Yes, third place is still in play for us if we win both.

How would 3rd place still be in place? URI would hold the tie-break over us since they beat us, no?

Archie's a great candidate. I don't understand why McKillop isn't getting more consideration. Wasnt Davidson picked near the bottom?

McKillop has done a remarkable job. But what Archie has done with this team, after tossing the 2 bigs off the team in December, is probably worthy of serious National COY consideration.

We can only finish third if it is a three-way tie for third between us, Rhody and VCU. It would be determined by round-robin head-to-head, and we would be 2-1 against the other two, Rhody 1-1 and VCU 1-2. We'd be third, Rhody fourth and VCU fifth.

2nd place tie and #2 seed is actually still in play. Quite unlikely, but possible:

Dayton finishes with 13 or 14 wins (they have 13 after tonight), gets #1 seed.
URI loses last game, finishes 12-6
Richmond wins last 2, finishes 12-6
Davidson loses last 2, finishes 12-6
vcu beats DC, loses to GMU, finishes 12-6

UR and vcu are both 3-2 against the group, Davidson is 2-3 so they get the #4 seed, URI is 1-2 so they get the #5 seed.

UR beat vcu 2-0 H2H, UR gets the #2 seed.

As said, very, very unlikely. Davidson would have to lose to Duquesne on the road to end the year, URI would have to lose at home to Saint Joe's on senior night, and vcu would have to lose at home to GMU on senior night. As well as UR winning at UMass, vcu winning at DC, etc.

Kenpom lines at the moment

UR by 1 at UMass
By 15 vs SLU

Dayton by 2 at LaSalle
URI by 10 vs SJU (they lost away by 1)

Davidson by 4 vs RPI
By 9 at Duquesne

RPI by 15 vs the GooMoos

GW by 2 at the Goo Moos
By 6 vs UMass

That would give us 4th, if the only change is URI stumbling we would be 3rd, 2nd would take multiple upsets.
I believe worse case is we lose out, GW wins out, Dayton gets the 1, then we get 7.

What are the odds that we finish ahead of VCU? That's all I care about at this point. Of course, I think they would have to lose to Mason...or do they?

If RPI loses to Davidson and we beat UMass and both teams win their last game we would finish in a tie record wise with RPI. Having beaten them twice would give us the tie breaker and we would finish ahead of them.
