I wish Dave Clawson would get some play for that job. I actually think he'd be a good fit there. When I think of higher P5 jobs he could get that is 1 imo. Now it takes an AD to have a little outside the box thinking perhaps (no experience out West but certainly no dealbreaker) and to deal with a % of Buffs alums who might ignorantly be like...who the guy at Wake Forest? They'll have options I'm sure but they'd be very wise to consider Clawson.

Dave makes $2.2m at Wake.Colorado coach makes $2.4.Pac12 v ACC?Dave ain’t going to Colorado, for sure.Upper echelon ACC coaches make dough as well as SEC & B10 boys.D’Antonio at Michigan State was making $4.5.His Replacement from Colo will make close to $5.0m.David Shaw is the highest paid coach in the Pac12 at $4.6m.Stanford’s endowment is a big help at $28.0B.

No. 21. Stanford’s David Shaw: $4.61 million

Makes less than: Baylor’s Matt Rhule ($4.11 million)

No. 33. Washington State’s Mike Leach: $3.75 million

Makes less than: Arkansas’ Chad Morris ($4 million)

No. 38. UCLA’s Chip Kelly: $3.5 million

Makes less than: Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck ($3.6 million)

No. 43. USC’s Clay Helton: $3.22 million

Makes less than: Vanderbilt’s Derek Mason ($3.39 million)

No. 50. Cal’s Justin Wilcox: $2.85 million

Makes less than: Georgia Tech’s Geoff Collins ($3 million)

No. 56. Oregon’s Mario Cristobal: $2.6 million

Makes less than: Rutgers’ Chris Ash ($2.3 million)

No. 69. Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith: $1.9 million

The situation is no different when it comes to coordinators and assistants.

No Pac-12 program ranks in the top-10 nationally in staff salary pool, and only Washington and Oregon were in the top 20 in 2018 (latest figures available from USA Today).

Actually Colorado was paying 2.675 after the annual salary boost for 2020 kicked in. Plus CU would probably be increasing that (assuming they get an established head coach) and putting Tucker's buyout towards new coach. But I agree the $ isn't that much different.

However CU is definitely the better job imo. And i think he could take them much higher than what he can do consistently at Wake. And there are not a lot of better jobs he could reasonably get because then you start getting into the real football blue bloods which r likely off limits.

I don't expect it to happen at all either. I'd like to see it tho. Nothing wrong with Wake but think he's overlooked and hope get gets a bigger gig someday.
