Could be a very interesting fit for us. Doesn't appear to do much on offense, but very good on defense. Our offense shouldn't be a problem next year, so just having a 7-footer hanging out for 20-25 minutes a game on defense might be exactly what we need. Couldn't be a much better fit academically, if he's cut it for four years at Wake, and I doubt he's looking to move up to a "better" situation than the ACC. This is worth watching.

No, he played his first three years before redshirting this season. Appeared in 17 games his freshman year, 29 his soph year (1 start), and 21 his junior year. Averaged 6 minutes, 1.7 points, and 1.2 boards per game for his career.

I don't know why anyone on this board would want him. He has been riding the bench for horrible Wake teams his whole career, if he was any good he would have had playing time on those teams. Seems like a Piotrowski type to me.

If there are better options for us to go after who ALSO are interested in coming here to fill a gaping hole next year, I'm all for them. But to me, literally if all he does is stand in the key on defense for 20 minutes a game with his arms up, he would probably help us. I feel like he would view us as a great option. No idea how we would view him, but at first glance, it's at least worth considering.

I agree. Being tall is great and all, but if your 7 feet and not getting anytime on a bad Wake squad, its cause your not very good. And there is also another reason we don't recruit these really tall guys because can you imagine a 7 footer having to defend a guard on the perimeter with our switching defense.

He seems like he would not play at all here though.

I get punishing ANO for leaving, but he was a much better player than Garrett.
Agreed, he was. It was a punishment penalty mainly. But also, I loved Garrett's intensity. He played the game with an edge, I'm not getting into the whole ANO was soft routine, because I don't neccesarily agree with that but he did have that label for some reasons. Pretty sure no one called Garrett soft.

But yes, talent wise, ANO much more complete player.

When was last ti,e a guard posts up like a pivot the Gonzo ? and why could not Taylor do this ? and why did not Coach have him do this and practice this ?

Thanks for the video 23, what a great team that was and one of the top individual performances I've ever seen.

My daughter and I were there. UMass kept trying to shoot inside and Darius said "No No, not in my house!". He was truly dominant. OSC

2 things struck me in watching that video:

1- we had a much deeper team of quality players then than we do presently.
2- our home court advantage is so much stronger now that it was prior to the renovation.

Yes, in retrospect that team was loaded with PLAYAS. You had Gonzo, Butler, KA, Geriot, Harp that could all score and all fearless in taking a big shot. Guys like Smitty that brought the edge along with Gonzo and Geriot. Lot of just really good and mentally strong basketball players.

So he is not a 7 foot Cavanaugh? ;)

went back to the box score of this game ... despite the 14 blocks from Garrett, we barely beat a sub .500 UMASS team at home in OT as we shot 6-29 from 3! even that team had some bad looking nights.
and for those who complain that CM didn't play the bench enough this year ... our top 5 guys that game played 32, 36, 37, 41 and 43 minutes.
