Probably too soon to call. Beilein certainly hasn't met expectation at Michigan, but did a great job here and W. Va. I also believe Beilein knows more basketball, how to adapt, change schemes, etc.

Beilein got Michigan into the National Championship game a couple of years ago - so I am not sure that he has fallen short of expectations, especially after seven years of underachieving by Tommy Amaker. Let's see what Shaka does in his new plum job. All the pieces are in place for him.

Beilein may not have met expectations this season but the past four seasons Michigan went to the round of 8, round of 2, round of 32 and round of 64.

Yeah, Beilein has certainly met expectations there. They were dormant for 15+ years until he arrived. He had some timing issues with the big guy going pro unexpectedly because of the pot suspension, so his team was ridiculously young this year. And, his team smashed VCU when it counted two years ago.

Beilein. Not even close. Look at his record. Has won at every level and often without the institutional advantages other schools may have had.

cannot recall but don't think the "fab five" at michigan ever won a national title.

Web they did not win national championship and everything the Fab Five did win was vacated.

IMHO, the key difference is that Belein was more of an overt whore from the very beginning. Shaka was much more clever...and effective in his deception.

At that level it's what have you done for me lately 16-16, 8-10 in Big Ten isn't acceptable? you'd think the fans would understand the young team, loss of underclass starters and have some memory of the past few years. Shaka better get used to that at Texas.

Beilein = Winner and Smart = Winner. Beilein certainly has more history on what to be judged, but hasn't Smart taken VCU to NCAA's 5 of 6 years? That surely says something. Both have proven to be top coaches, and the market has rewarded both for achievement.
