Early start assuming for schools to bring students .. Spiders 80 Running Bulldogs 40.

10-minute tipoff warning for those able to put something on in the background while working or with nothing else going on. Expect a raucous crowd of screaming middle-schoolers.

Spiders out to a 9–3 lead at the first media timeout. Would be bigger if the Spiders hadn't had two consecutive unforced travel calls.

Now if we can just get the school kids to only cheer for the Spiders and not also Gardner–Webb, we'd be in great shape.

41–12 at the half. Doogan leads with 10 points, while 10 different Spiders have scored and have all split time nearly equally. Roussell is doing a lot of line-change subbing of all five players and there's almost no drop-off from starters to subs.

Gardner–Webb shooting 19% from the field and 16 turnovers.

Bulldogs finish the third quarter on an 8–0 run to close to...60–30. Exactly on pace for Section9's predicted score.

Spiders roll, 92–44. All 12 Spiders who saw the court scored, including a last-minute bucket from Jada Green who missed the past two seasons with injuries. Doogan led the Spiders with 17. Really nice game from Sweeney running the point, with 12 points including 3-for-3 from deep plus 5 assists. Spiders overall had 27 assists on 35 buckets.

Another dominating win today. I’m guessing the comment Roussell made in last week’s post game presser saying Alston was likely coming back this week is for practice. Hopefully next couple of games can ease transition back in more smoothly. December we have a gauntlet of a schedule. Our depth has been a great strength for us.

Yeah, I assume it'll take a bit before Alston is game-ready.

Spiders could very easily be 7–0 and then the last 6 OOC games are indeed a brutal stretch.

Highlights and postgame:

Margins in the women’s game are often large even between top 25 teams, so it’s hard to tell where we fall until the level of competition steps up in a few weeks. But so far so good!

We’re definitely going to get votes in both polls on Monday, but need to win the big games starting 11/30 to be in top 25. Has our women team ever been ranked?

We had 6 votes in the preseason coaches poll, but dropped to 1 this week. No votes in AP poll either week.

I don't believe we've ever been officially ranked in either poll, but I'm not sure. We were getting some votes toward the end of last year, and I think we got as high as ~30 in the coaches poll.

Why would be losing votes with dominating victories? Blowout wins, including by 23 (32 - 7 at halftime!!) over Fairfield who was 31 - 2 last year and receiving votes again as top mid-major. Plus a nice win @Temple.

Fairfield game was not reflected in that week's polls...it came after those releases.

We've gained a bit in the AP poll...going from no votes to two votes (whoopee!) based on the Fairfield and Gardner–Webb wins.

Next coaches poll comes out tomorrow, and we'll see how much we increase from last week's single vote.

We may pick up some vote momentum with blowout wins over the next few games, but honestly, it's going to take until the second half of the OOC schedule to really get voters' attention.

But we still lost votes since pre-season polls, right? After winning @Temple?

Yeah, I don’t know… there was some consolidation as the ORV category dropped from 25 teams to 20 between preseason and last week. Maybe we didn’t beat Temple by enough? Maybe some coaches like to make a few dark horse picks in the preseason to make a statement and then go with more traditional picks once games start?

Yeah, it just seems odd. Usually, teams don't drop in the polls if they win, and we had good wins and/or convincing/dominating wins!
