@Section9.RowD Bona is fun I've seen a game there years ago - we won too. Happened to be near there on business. Talked with Natalie Lewis parents. very impressive people. I think it was year our team had bus problems getting out of there in a snowstorm. I can relate, it was bad. Good atmosphere, I just remember it was weird picking up ticket there, it felt like you were walking through an elementary school hallway to get it. Still had the gym feel over an arena feel, even though it's a decent size.

I am kinda worried about the first game. With all these new faces. If Vmi plays a quick pace we might struggle. Any struggle against a military college should send shockwaves throughout this athletic program.

20-11 overall. I think we make the semifinals of the A10 and make the NIT. We have NCAA bubble talks after starting A10 play 4-0, but a 2 game skid in the middle with UMASS and Dayton pops that. But we finish strong, and get to semifinals and get one of the 4 seeds in the NIT.

21-10 Regular Season Overall

Feel better about the record than the individual games and I am staying slightly rosy glasses here especially in home OOC games. I see a return to the “good Mooney” years with the team right on the cusp of making the NCAAs, but getting into NIT instead.

A solid step in the right direction with all the turnover and building toward the next NCAA appearance.

Obviously will be rooting for the Spiders to win them all. Go Spiders!

I am going to look at groups of games and come up with our record that way. I am picking these assuming above average PG play. That is the key position for us. So, this is more of a hope record right now, and subject to change as we get closer to November.

OOC home games 6-1.
OOC road games 3-0.
OOC neutral 1-2.

* All of these games are winnable, but 13-0 is a big ask, so I think 10-3 seems about right. It would be good to go at least 2-1 on the neutral games, but if we get to 10-3, I think this is the way we do it.

1st 6 IC games 4-2.
2nd 6 IC games 5-1.
3rd 6 IC games 5-1.

10-3, 14-4, and 24-7.

Setting the record straight.
The people who are expecting 20 wins are the same people who are going to say Fire Mooney when we’re under 500.
The unrealistic expectations are your fault, not CM’s.
4 teams in the last 10 years have won 20 games and some expect it to be this group. Just seems unrealistic.

I don't think results will be under .500. Seems more likely to be a 17-13 type of season, which isn't awful considering all the 5-6 year mainstays that graduated.

Poor CM. Believe me, he has won the battle. He was not going anywhere after the 10 year drought, and now he is CFL after the super post season run.

And yes, he did a super job in the portal, and with the 2023 recruiting class so far - so our expectations are high. I think on paper only SLU and Dayton are better.

I think 20 wins is a reasonable prediction if the transfers are as advertised.

This group could be one one of the most talented teams we have had. My 24-7 prediction might be a little too hopeful, because that is pretty much based on everything going right, but 20+ wins is not unrealistic at all. Just average PG play should get us to 20 wins. Above average PG play should get us to 21-24 wins.

Oh buddy… GREAT PG play won’t get us 20 wins. 24 regular season wins is the most in school history… WTF

devil's advocate ... we finished the regular season with 18 wins last year and then beat URI by 5 in the 1st round. if Gilly doesn't go nuts vs VCU, the season ends at 19.

where have we improved so much? I'm excited about Quinn and I don't expect a huge dropoff, but it's very doubtful we've improved at the 5. I'm excited about Nelson and Dji but it's very doubtful we get better PG play than with Gilly. I'll bite with the MFG fan club and I'm hopeful with Bigelow, but it's doubtful we're better overall at the 4. and we've got the same guys (hopefully a year better) at the 2 and 3.

I'm hoping we do even better than last year, but I don't see this team as more talented.
