2025 Baseball Season

Topolski comes on and retires the side in the third, and now the Spiders are rolling in the bottom of the inning as the Towson pitcher can't find the plate again...BB, wild pitch, BB, Bernstein double to plate one, HBP, BB to plate another one. 10–2 Spiders, bases still loaded with no outs. New pitcher coming on for the Tigers.

Edit: Spiders score another one on a fielder's choice before Towson can end it.

2025 Baseball Season

Towson loaded the bases with no outs...single, steal, BB, bunt single. Fortunately we got a double play which only scored one run and then a fly out to end it. 4–2 Spiders.

New pitcher coming on for Towson, we'll see if he has any better control.

Edit: Well, I guess he's getting it over the plate, but that just means we can hit it now. Double and a single, and then an error on a fielder's choice plates both of those runners. 6–2 Spiders.

Edit 2: O'Brien homer makes it 8–2.

2025 Baseball Season

We got off to a bit of a rough start with Peacock giving up a single and a double to plate a run and then a HBP, but that was all the damage.

Towson pitcher struggling mightily though...HBP, BB, K, double steal, BB, BB to force in a tying run, and then another HBP to force in a second one. Bases still loaded with one out.

Edit: WP lets another one in.

Edit 2: Spiders push it to 4–1 on a fielder's choice before Pacheco strikes out to end the inning.

UR opts in to House settlement, will only pay hoops players

Nevermind paying non-revenue players...we don't even stand a chance at keeping up with the big boys on scholarships alone. Texas is going from 266 to 466 scholarships with the move from scholarship limits to roster caps.

More than doubling baseball scholarships from the previous limit of 11.7 to 25.

68 full rides for women's rowing.

Yes, Texas is an extreme example given their resources, but they won't be the only ones pumping more money into scholarships as a baseline before you even account for paying athletes above and beyond.

It's possible to remain competitive in conference, but truly playing on a national stage is only going to get tougher.

How many transfers do we need next season?

So that would put all sports in the Patriot league and hoops (men and women) stay in the A10?
I think there will be new leagues (I have seen the name super league used) that would be the new governing body for football and basketball. I would guess that there may have to be 2 separate ones since more colleges/universities are likely interested in basketball. However it is just as probable that the Power conference leaders cut out the small guys. One would think within the super league(s) would be divisions just like the NBA or NFL.

All I am certain of is that this whole thing is going to take years to get settled.

How many transfers do we need next season?

Potentially - but I have heard on a number of talk shows that coaches are suggesting different conferences for different sports at one school. So your mostly non-revenue sports could play in a more regional conference affiliation. But your big time sports - football and basketball could play in other conferences. They would like to get rid of the entire school plays in one conference, and it might go sport by sport. I don't think it goes to that level of sport by sport, but I could see your bigger sports - football and basketball - having the ability to join a conference all on its own.
I've always thought they should do that.
