2024–25 schedule

Granted it might be Florida Southwestern State College’s intramural team. They just have to be the “host”. Exhibition games for them sort of like Mt. Olive.

My backup is setting up a LLC for all my old carpet gymers from UR. It’s like when my friend set up a fake charity so he could hire a professional beer truck for a party. Be resourceful!

2024–25 schedule

if any of those 3 team MTE's fit our schedule, we should be contacting them to see if they'd like to add us.
we'd do the GCS a favor bringing them to 4 teams, plus we might get better games. in any case, we'd have clarity.

It’s the same issue that way. Works for us in theory but those 3 teams may not be able to add a 3rd game to their schedules by adding a 4th team. It’s an option to consider just unlikely unless all teams have opening. We’ll see.

Plus have u looked at those 3 teamer MTEs that r scheduled at same time? Check blogging the bracket. They’re worse. It’s hard to imagine we can weaken our ooc schedule but it would. I do think the team deserves more of a destination trip too for long season.

I have Florida Southwestern State College teed up for a fee.

OT: Woj bomb!

I'd bet a sizeable wager that we too will have a "General Manager" for men's basketball in the next 2-3 years. We will need that to "compete" in the changing landscape of college basketball. SF, thanks for the answer.
We’ll get a GM after Hardt visits with VCU’s GM and is blown away by what he finds out.

lines have really been blurred. will Woj be in charge of their Collective, or just a liason? I didn't think a school employee is allowed in charge. had to be some separation. but whoever's in charge ... that's probably the 2nd most important job to the HC.
That'a undoubtedly why his job description very clearly indicates being a liaison to collectives. Does still have to be some separation.

2024–25 schedule

Absorbing another 3-team/2-game MTE is definitely problematic from the game count issue alone...all of those teams are likely to be at 31 games already and thus would have to drop another game somewhere to be able to move to a 3-game MTE.

I do love the live countdown on the Gulf Coast Showcase website ticking down by the second...it's like a doomsday clock. Under 60 days to go now!

2024–25 schedule

Or maybe one of the many MTEs out there will drop to 3 teams, eliminate their MTE and join the Gulf Coast one.

Look at my post above yours. u don't even have to get a MTE to drop from 4 to 3. There are many that are 3 teams. Probably easier. I imagine its hard to kick someone out or drop voluntarily. The advantage would be the # of games on schedule would match up. Obviously obstacles with both which is why it's almost October and we don't know what is going on.

OT: Woj bomb!

The fundraising part of GM role I think will be important. Someone like Woj you'd expect to do that well.

$ remains the most important part of NIL. That's what we have to keep up for sure with mens hoops. not stating as fact but I've heard Queally not being involved with other matters at UR now is actually a good thing for that.

Kind of agree with both of you. The evidence says they will let some slip - like scheduling this year. BUT - it seems like that is one area that they should be really focused on. I think it is entirely possible that the portal blitz did take away from time and conversations with other coaches to get games. It does point for the need for an extra body. I think in general - in recruiting and scheduling - the assistants are the table setters, and HC has to be the closer - in most cases.

And I would contend with Mooney that his current staff is not able to manage all of their duties effectively, otherwise we wouldn't be playing in the Gulf Coast Showcase with a bunch of nobodies and having to scramble to fill our OOC schedule with teams like Maine and Mt. Olive.
solid point ... but staffs have and SHOULD be able to manage those duties.

But in 2-3 years (or maybe more) are we on the tail end of schools adding it - so we are just adding it to "look" like we care and need it and be relevant or are we simply adding it because by that time - if more than half the schools have one, we just don't want to be left behind.

One name to throw out there - why not give Kevin Eastman a call for this position? See if he can bring some of his NBA assistant coaching and front office ways to UR. Could be a nice little retirement gig for him for a few years.

2024–25 schedule

if truly looking to still add 3 teams I'd guess the Gulf Coast is looking to convince any of the 3 team 2-game MTEs at campus hosted sites that fall on same dates. & there would be some since popular time for MTEs. Problem is all teams would be adding a game, which means they would either need to be 1 game short of max or drop a game. Plus the team hosting the MTE has to be willing to give up a couple home games. All of which seems unlikely but you never know.

Adding 1 team to make 6 seems most probable whether that is some d1 or or a local d2/d3 "host:. Or 1 of the 5 team drops.
