Second guard position and the 3 are tough. I think Tyne showed enough last year to start this year. Makes us small up front though.

No way, the CAA is a better fit for football. It is not even close. It has the reputation as one of the top 3 FCS conferences in the country. The CAA is the premier FCS league in the east. UR has been consistently in the top of the CAA. We have much more in common with Elon, W&M, Nova than we do with Lafayette, Georgetown or Bucknell. The quality of competition in the CAA is better and the quality of players is better. The CAA and UR places players in the NFL. The Patriot League does not. That will hurt recruiting. Once UR joins the Patriot League we will not have a single player make an NFL roster. In the PL we would never have gotten a Brian Jordan, Tim Hightower or a Kyle Lauletta.

Academically and geographically (since we pull a large amount of our student base from the Northeast), the Patriot league is an ideal fit for UR in every aspect, except Basketball. But given our handling of men's soccer and track to add Lacrosse, and fact that major college basketball is heading in an unknown direction - I would have concerns that one day, in the not too distant future - UR ends up in the Patriot League. I just don't think we are serious enough from a basketball perspective to make that extra push that might be necessary in the next few years, if NIL continues to spiral out of control, and the bigger conferences somehow break off - I think it will be a serious conversation for UR to join this league in all sports. Not hoping to be right here, just a thought in the back of the mind that is a little scary. I think the school is sending a message from a football perspective to clearly step down, that just leaves basketball all along carrying the reason to stay in the A10.

Probably true. I think some kids who choose Patriot League schools go there with the intention of someday owning an NFL franchise, not playing for one.

That's a very good schedule, a national schedule. who knows about Texas but u take it...maybe connections?

night and day difference with the men. Also I notice Coach Roussell is quoted in there multiple times. Our men's press release had nothing. Probably because they were embarassed, but it's still not the right thing to ever do. don't shrink from the responsibility, u have to speak for your program.

and Roussell specifically talks about setting high goals for the schedule. mindset. They may have ended up with an extra power conf game exceeding goals as result. I mentioned this with Mooney & the men's approach. If you're only going for a couple power conf games u can easily fall below it.

I've got the following quads based on last year's NETs:

2 Q1: Texas, Tennessee
5 Q2: Temple, Fairfield, Oklahoma State, Columbia, Clemson
2 Q3: App State, Georgetown
4 Q4: Morgan State, Gardner-Webb, W&M, Oakland

I need to correct the above post. Women coming off a successful season. Men coming off of an almost successful season. I guess that's the difference between a good schedule and a piss poor one. That or the difference between Roussell and Mooney, but we're not allowed to talk about that.

I'm going to go with a transfer-heavy starting 5. I'm very high on GW3 based on his pedigree. Haven't seen him in person, but I'd be surprised if he transfers down from Michigan and doesn't get the first crack at a starting role.

Bench - B. Artis, Walz, and Tyne see significant time as the first guys off the bench. Tanner is a real question mark - I think he has the opportunity to see significant time with his size and versatility, but don't see big minutes happening right away. Roche will also be in the mix, but unsure how healthy he'll be coming off his surgery.

Like others have said, this is the most competition we've had for minutes in quite some time. Excited to see how this shakes out. For those who are able to attend the NIL preview event, would love to hear what insights you grab from that.

Who are we visiting out at Reynoldsburg (Columbus, OH area) and Ambassador Christian (Charlotte area)?
