Looks like the CBI may still be happening. Seems like the NCAA is still planning on having the NIT too, although the format is under review.

Maybe the Robins Center can host the CBI. It's basically a neutral site to us, based on our record there so far.
The CBI shouldn't even happen this year with Covid. Does every school deserve a trophy?
As long as you hate bowl games as much as the CBI. Not saying it’s you....I don’t get people that criticize those tournaments then will gladly sit and watch 6-6 UTSA vs 5-7 Hawaii in the Blueskin Potato bowl.
I will go on record saying I have no interest in bowl games. Other than the semis and championship game.
Death to the BCS is a must read for any college sports fan. It’s over 10 years old now but did an excellent job covering how the bowl system is essentially a racquet. FBS football is a joke when it comes to determining its champion and its because these stupid bowls have been allowed to expand and persist fleecing schools of money and the states that fund them.
Once we play VCU again and lose. A reality check will set in. A three week lay off into a VCU game. It spells disaster.

My takeaway from that list is that none of those teams ahead of us are insurmountable. Of course, we have to (1) play games; and (2) win them. But our destiny is in our own hands still.

Duke has now joined Kentucky in the losers club. They sit at 7-8 for the season after a loss to Notre Dame.

I am in agreement with this, need to get games in and win, and we can be in in this crazy year.
And if I had to guess most people on here probably would have though vcu would’ve been the team that handled cOViD poorly. Nope. Just another reason to #firemooney
Rhoades has beaten 3 of the 4 coaches that came before him. Smart, Wade, Grant. Still needs to play Capel.
VCU has won the games it should have won. It hasn’t played us or SLU or Davidson, and it got killed by Bona. So it’s gotten fat on the bottom of the league and has no wins against the top of it. UMass has a nice record against no one, also.
Of course it would be very vcu-esque for the lambs to win the regular season on percentage when none of their remaining games against the top four teams occur, then get favorable a10 tourney matchups somehow.

won the games they should have won? They were picked 9th in preseason poll. if we go back EL I’m sure u were saying they were gonna suck. I feel like I’ve been reading that for 15 years on here. And UR has done their part. Helped them to a few bids in A10 tourney. 7-19 overall in Mooney tenure. Embarrassing. VCU has earned the benefit of the doubt. Just saying wishful thinking has not and does not work. I think that is the UR mindset too. More big hat no cattle. Be nice if Spiders actually did something about it but honestly I don’t think it upsets Mooney & then he gets coddled on top of it.

But this year, vcu is a nice team and obviously better than ninth place, but who have they beaten? They’ve avoided bad losses and that’s important. But they don’t have any wins that mean much. Their best is against Utah State, a fringe tourney team. We have a win over the #12 NET team. Obviously we need to play more games so that we can win some others, but there’s a reason us, Bona and VCU are within four spots of each other on kenpom.

So are we playing down to Bona and VCU or are they playing up. I think the answer is the former.
We should have beaten Bona, no excuses. We had them and let them get away.
That said, they are also the best team in the A10 right now, so losing on a 3 at the buzzer is not really some huge embarrassment, either.

Well if you're forecasting I wouldn't expect anything different. They consistently get it done and we don't. Unfortunately I don't see anything this year that says that will change. The signs are all there. They exceed expectations we don't. Last year was exception tho we still split, and ultimately it didn't matter, there was a lot still to be written that we'll never know. And if we're close together on bubble at the end their history and playing more games will probably help them stand out way more than us too. U r a great contributor EL notwithstanding your VCU predictions that never pan out. It's not your fault but if u r waiting for VCU just to falter could be a long wait. Would be nice if UR and Mooney had some fire in the belly to do something about it for once rather than our " a broken clock is even right twice a day" strategy. Lord knows we've had plenty of opportunities. And this year was supposedly the sure fire year for it. Best team ever vs. a VCU mini rebuild.
This really was our the year to get something done against vcu. Next year UR loses almost the entire starting lineup whil vcu returns a lot and also signed an outstanding recruiting class. UR one again has a not so great class coming in.
Ya I forgot how Mooney loves going after the low rated or even completely in ranked guys. I’m sure he’ll have some 5’6 guard come in who will put up good numbers but will never break the ncaa drought. Next best class ever in 8 years! Can’t wait!
We haven’t played vcu yet, and we have two chances to wax them like we should. If we do, I suspect many here will be singing a different tune.
You’re very right here. Sweeping vcu would change a lot of things. Ain’t nothing too it but to do it. Only problem is we’ve had a very hard time doing it lately, really every under Mooney.
I say we get a team of guys off of here and scrimmage the team. I’m sure there’s a few of us who could use the exercise (myself included).

You're right, because ours wasn't even aTier 1 positive. But the NCAA wouldn't have cared if it were, according to this.
