A borderline Q1/Q2 like SLU might be enough.

Colorado State and Boise also play again tonight. Boise has a gaudy NET of 24 thanks to their record, but BYU is their only top 100 win so far, which is why Lunardi doesn't have them in. If Boise wins, that's enough to bump CSU below us but not enough to put Boise ahead of us, as long as we beat SLU. If CSU wins, that might still be enough to hold us off even if we win.

JOC says that teams that don't play at least 13 games are barred from the A-10 tourney, and that no one can opt out of the tourney.

We will just pause our way to the tournament. I guess any team on pause will be ineligible to play.

Someone please explain why if a football player tests positive, their team still gets to play, but basketball has to quarantine the whole team.

That’s easy. Because if a starter is one of those quarantined, CM isn’t putting the team on the floor.

Did you see that BC is playing it’s next game with players normally in its scout team starting?

Hell, Gonzaga had a player test positive and still played Auburn the same day, if I recall correctly.

I think whether or not we make the tournament depends on if the committee believes the “COVID pause hangover” is real, and obviously how we finish out the season. If the committee throws out the la salle game we still have a shot for an at-large right now, assuming Hofstra doesn’t end up as a q4 loss.

This is what I don’t get. Occording to JOC speculation....Thur Friend gets covid, player quarantines, player has practiced? St L doesn’t like that so cancels? But we’re ready to play (I assume 1 player short). Two days later player (who’s been quarantined) has positive test and we shut down?
But other teams play with player testing positive, just short that player? What are the rules?

We have an at large shot even with the La Salle game. As much as people on here don't want to admit it.

It's very random, I agree. If JOC's scenario is what actually happened, then I'm thinking SLU won't play another game this year.

I don't think we know yet if it's just the player that was isolated who tested positive. and even if it is, he may have been contract traced to the others on the team.

At this point, the question should be not whether we will make the NCAA tournament, but whether you think if we do, if we will get to play in it. This is Mooney folks, if something bad can happen, it will happen.

I'm putting my money down is that we somehow make the tournament but we don't get to play in it as UR enters its NCAA high 5th Covid shutdown the day after getting selected for the tournament.

Also, any chance of a banner hanging this year. UR 2021 Most Covid pauses in the NCAA. It will be glorious.

I nominate we change Murphy’s law to Mooney’s law.

No matter if we make it or not there is a silver lining...Mooney’s clear Hannibal Lecter face mask is going to the Hall of Fame.

Go ahead and go to Vegas. We aren't making it. This third Covid pause seems like the end. No rhythm to the season at all. VCU is coming up very soon.

The Dayton is now cancelled as well. George Washington game seems on the schedule Feb.9th. The only game before the possibly VCU game. However, the game they had against Fordham VCU has been cancelled. Seems like more games are being cancelled than played. Just cancel this season its a disaster.

Lunardi moves us back up to first one out. Seton Hall somehow fell from last four in to behind us without playing. He's now got Loyola comfortably in at this point...not even showing up on his bubble of last four byes or last four in anymore.

Any way to get a game for the weekend? Mooney has struggled to find any when we have had opportunities in the schedule.

I don't think we're interested in jumping straight from almost a week off and into a game. Need a few days of practices, and there are no guarantees we'll be back on the court Saturday anyway.

Yep, that's the key. When you are healthy and a team cancels on you, it's much easier to find a replacement game. But, when you are the team with covid issues, you can't schedule a game in a few days because you need to make sure everyone is cleared first.

Doesn't seem to stop other coaches...ask the kids if they would rather play games or have a few more practices.

Well we've got nothing scheduled from the 12th to the 17th so GET BUSY MOONEY

We're paused AT LEAST until the 12th. Hard to commit to anything when we don't even know if we'll be back up and running.

Regardless, at this point it's all about getting whatever A-10 games we can in, so that's on the conference to figure out, not Mooney.

Can we change this poll to "Will we make it TO the tournament". At this point, us just stepping on the court again is probably a legit question to ask.

The whole season has been a mess for everybody. So presently the tournament looks like it will be played. So what happens say a team makes to the 32 round and then a player/whoever tests positive? If correct right now the entire team has to pause. Though a pause during the tourney seems impossible, so does the team just get disqualified?

The NCAA will rent a separate house in Indianapolis for every player on every tournament team. Each player will arrive separately by private jet and be driven separately to the venue by their own personal drivers, who will have quarantined in advance for two weeks. Each player will arrive to the arena in uniform.

All players and coaches will wear N95 masks underneath medical masks in the arena at all times. Players and coaches will be sprayed with Vitamin D before and after each game and at halftime. Special balls that emit quick-dry hand sanitizer at all times will be used.

Massive air suction and filtration systems will constantly suck the air up from the floor to filter and recycle it. Portable plexiglass phone booths will be provided for each individual coach. The penalty for leaving the booth is automatic ejection.

Players, coaches, traveling party for 68 teams, what maybe 1500 people? What are the odds of false positive test results with that number of people being tested almost daily? Are they going to crush some school's dream because of a false positive?

Just asking the question...

Lunardi still has us as first one out...Seton Hall moved in, but SLU dropped below us.

A-10 with three of the first four out...d'oh!
