Explanation

• The transfer portal is a window when college athletes can enter their names into the portal to potentially transfer schools.
  
  
• The spring portal is one of two windows for college football players to enter the portal, the other being the winter portal.
  
  
• • The NCAA Division I Council voted to shorten the transfer portal windows in October 2024.
    
  • A 30-day window to enter the portal also opens after a head coach leaves
