VCU game thread: PT 0-0 and CM and team won the one that mattered last year

I've never been a betting man, but to me this seems much more likely to be a double digit VCU win than not. Judging by our almost complete inability to win on the road this year, the 12 point loss from the first VCU game, the fact that we are two teams going in opposite directions, and so on.

But maybe we ride the high from the win the other night and keep this one close enough to have a shot, let's hope so.

I don’t bet sports, but the line seems weird since they beat us by 12 and were up more late at RC. Also, we don’t play well on balance at their place. Our only really good win since we lost to VCU at RC was vs St L. But bookies have a way of getting high pct accuracy. Then there are games not such as our drubbing vs Clemson on a close line. We’ll see. Hopefully we do something special twice in a week.

This is how I see it as well. VCU just shut off our ability to initiate our offense in the first game. Our guards already our non-aggressive in looking to score, so guarding them tight in the half court, as VCU will do is going to make it really challenging for us to score. I suppose we could go off from 3 as we did against SLU in the second half and keep this close but we are not a good 3 point shooting team, so I don't see that as sustainable.

The wild card is Peter Thomas though, does he do something different than Mooney would in drawing up our approach to this game. If he does, than maybe, but if he plays how Mooney would have played thing, I don't think it is going to be that close because at the end of the day, VCU is better than us.

Plan to enter the enemy territory at around 6pm after traversing the 2.4 miles from my house off Cary to Siegel .. which I just realized is closer than the 3.2 miles to RC .. Thxfully may have a quick beverage with two work colleagues who sadly will be in yellow/black tonight.

They should buy.

Sad Spiders should go into a game expecting to lose. Long odds I admit, but hope the players do not hold the same sentiment.

Limit turnovers, Be aggressive to get them to foul. Make foul shots at our league leading pace... few other things and we have a chance. Unlikely, but not undoable.

Go Spiders!

it’s a white out in siegel with free lovely Vcu white T-shirt’s it would seem but i am clearly wearing my shirt from our Miracle in DC and Buffalo and from Tuesday night - it has been washed a few times I promise.

Vcu is going for the blow out. If it’s like the game at RC I don’t expect any mercy. They’ll play for the NET increase to try to get on bubble. They r not out of it. Need to be prepared for that. Whenever there is a chance to hurt or help vcu bid chances we only seem to help it. with exception of last year in A10.

But no moral victories. Win or nothing.

Ughhhhhh Tyler with 2. Make the smart move PT and put him in at 10 min - no chance we win if he sits to halftime

VCU gets away with a lot of fouling on their pressure Their rep just buys them the right to bump and push and grab on the open floor

Not a great game for Jaynel to try and build on last game - - he just dribbles too much and gets himself and our team in trouble. He is not alone, but he has the ball the most and for us to beat the pressure, we need him to make good decisions etc.

Way too much dribbling. In the meantime VCU just pounds the paint. We got no answer right now.

Guys we should be able to lean on (Grace and Goose) had a terrible half. Only guys who had it going (Burton and Quinn) got into foul trouble. Rest of the guys aren’t rebounding and are chucking up bad threes. Lucky to only be down 14
