Statement from Caleb Henderson's family on his decision to leave the UNC football program.
Bruce Young, THI
The following is a statement Caleb Henderson's family released to THI on Saturday morning regarding the sophomore quarterback's decision to leave the program Friday night:

"Our son, Caleb, left the University of North Carolina last evening. He is very grateful for the 2 years he spent there as a student athlete. He would like to especially thank his coaches and teammates for making his experience so rich with learning, as well as life time friendships. Caleb made the decision to leave in order to be geographically closer to his family, especially his mother who has some health concerns. We, as his parents, are very proud of him and are grateful for the wonderful experience he had as a Tar Heel. We wish coach Fedora and the entire football team the best of luck always."

I looked at a map of Maryland and Virginia and it appears that UR and Towson are the two closest FCS schools with W&M an hour and JMU about two hours farther away from Burke, VA than UR, but I agree with 32 regarding the competition from Clise and Manusco and for that reason not sure we might not be his first choice.
32, can you expand further on the coaches think about the future of Clise and Manusco?
Do you know whether we are pursuing Henderson?

all things considered, just wish his mom the best. seeing that it is so late, might be a good idea for him to just sit out a year and handle his personal needs. football and school can wait a while.

BY the way, what is ever going to happen to UNC and one of the grossest violations of academic cheating I can recall in college sports? Probably nothing, but a feather in the logo of W&M is unacceptable. The NCAA is almost a corrupt as the federal government.
Almost

it is amazing that unc seems to be sliding on this and maybe getting a wink and a finger wag. they have even admitted it but think it involves not tarnishing certain individuals there who are or were on pedestals and nobody wishes to slap them down not even the ncaa.

the biggest challenge the NCAA has with this situation is that there were more students involved than just athletes. To dig deeper into this invites questions that no one wants to answer with regards to admissions, qualifications, etc. I think they would love for this to just be forgotten and everyone move on - nothing to see here.

absolutely initiated for athletes but regular students are not stupid and if they observe a crip or faux course which counts, they will be sitting next to lawrence taylor. yes Pike, there are other factors at play here and the PCers in indy will most likely not tackle this if they can help it. PCers cannot possibly do something which might tarnish one of their protected groups.

Speaking of PCers brings to mind an article I recently read in a conservative publication.
So let me ask you, Spinner, what did you call Brazilian nuts when you were a kid?
Who did "Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo" catch by the toe back in those days?
Do you think all the terms you and others of your generation used when a child should have been maintained in today's parlance?...those terms in particular?

The argument was made that given time, most PC alterations in language prove to be warranted, given the proper perspective, and they have been and will continue to exist because of the never ending changes in the values of a given society. The article criticized those on the "never PC" train as lacking understanding, patience, and tolerance, and particularly blamed ultra conservatives who are on the "status quo forever" or "never change" wagon.
Of course, that does not apply to you. It was just an argument in an article referencing language and people of your generation.

And that is all it was.

I had dinner last week with a very successful UNC graduate and his reply to me, when I of course was needling him, was direct and serious - "I don't know what the NCAA is waiting for. We (alumni) would like it to be over with."
I reflected on this and concluded that while the Spiders have had their hands slapped a few times, I sure love the fact that we aren't left dangling over the cliff.

have no probs with things disappearing but we have migrated way, way, past that and we all know it. don't want to keep repeating myself, know what i feel PC does and it is not good and it is being run, directed and managed. ironically, those words are still in use daily but that is OK.

PC is nothing more than a form of censorship and the censors are self appointed, not to mention self righteous. Express yourself respectfully and if others find it offensive, let them retreat to their "safe space". Lots of lunacy in our society now. Sorry to interject this on the football board, but I have had more than enough of this BS.
