We haven't given up on trying to add some more games. Not a lot of wiggle room before Christmas though...we've got games on the 13th, 16th, 19th, and 22nd. We kick back into the conference schedule cycle on the 30th, so it looks like any additional games would be very close to Christmas. Could be an opportunity around the 27th or 28th, but that's about it.

Hopefully we can get a really good one. Would have loved to see that matchup with UConn. I'm not sure what other teams are currently looking for a matchup but I hope we are aiming high!

Said on the coaches show the other night all options were on the table regarding scheduling. Specifically said non conference games during A10 play were an option if any games were to be cancelled.

Decent game, although we have to turn around and host Duquesne the next day if they come off pause? Perhaps it's an admission that Duquesne expects to be shut down long enough to have to postpone our game too.

That would be a good get. They just lost the Duquesne game. We must have the same concern about Duquesne. Way to be pro-active.

This is a little confusing to me, but the way I read it is that Duquense was already trying to push back their game with us in order to fit in a couple of OOC games.

The Dukes (1-1) were planning to play nonconference games against Bowling Green next Friday and Winthrop on Dec. 21 at La Roche University, but the status of those games is unknown.

“We have to make sure we do it safely,” Dambrot said.

If the games are played, Duquesne’s Atlantic 10 opener at Richmond, scheduled for Dec. 19, will be moved to later in the season.

“(Richmond coach) Chris Mooney has been unbelievable in trying to help,” Dambrot said. “I’ve never seen an opposing coach so helpful. It tells you a lot about people.”

So if this holds *major caveat*, our current non-con would look something like this for quadrants:

Quad 1: WVU
Quad 2: Kentucky, Loyola, Vandy, maybe UNI
Quad 3: Wofford, maybe Hofstra
Quad 4: Morehead

All in all I think a pretty good job at scheduling considering we didn't know about Kentucky and replaced Furman/Charleston with equal, if not better games with Loyola/Wofford while throwing out Q4 Detroit. Really would've liked two Q1 games, but Loyola or Kentucky have outside chances of becoming that and even if not, having one or two Q2 games in the bag with no bad losses is a nice place to be.

Vandy and UNI are very likely to be Quad 3. Kentucky too unless they get things moving in the right direction.

Loyola still a question mark. They should be good, but they've only managed to play one D-I game so far, a blowout over Chicago State, perhaps the worst program in all of D-I.

I'd be really surprised if Kentucky falls below 135 with that being a road game, even if they're somewhat comparable to Notre Dame like they were today, they'd easily remain Q2. And Vandy on the road I'd expect to be Q2 unless they are as bad as last year with a decent amount of production returning and a good guy the lost for the year last year coming back.

I will be surprised if Vandy doesn't finish in the SEC cellar again.

Don't underestimate the value of getting a game in Indy, where the entire tournament will be played. I suspect that was intentional.

UNI just cancelled its games against Wisconsin and Marshall and is sending its players home for the holiday break. So, no more help from them, either.

I actually think we should go in the other direction and not add any games. We are ranked - and assuming we have a good showing against WVU - will stay ranked. So why try to add games when other teams are shutting it down. We have 4 games now - with WVU will get to 5 - assuming we just get 1 more and get to 6 - that should be fine.

Wonder how UNI defines the holiday break. Coach K obviously started this “trend” with Duke ending its non-conference schedule and is giving his players 4 days off instead. Granted no Duke players will be home for Christmas- they have to return to Duke before then.

It would be interesting to know what the players on the various teams think. I can understand college football players that decide to not play in a bowl game and end the weird season now, but figure most basketball players who are just starting the season would want to continue to play.

Coach K is one or two more losses away from back surgery with weekly golf outings as part of his PT.

Not that it really matters, but I wonder if we hang onto a top-25 ranking. Missouri will jump into the polls this week for sure. I think we probably drop to 25.

Two wins and a loss to #11 shouldn’t have hurt us too bad, bu the wins were both shaky and the loss was an ass-whipping.
