I think that was very smart by the Saint Francis coach to have them get the ball up the court and then call a timeout. Saved the timeout if he needed it on the inbounds pass and since they were able to get it in and advance now he can draw up the play he wants.

STF is a decent NEC team, and this game played out exactly like I thought it would, except we won. Our defense was beyond bad most of the game until we went full court press. We go 10 deep and need to apply pressure much more often. That said, if we could just limit opponents offensive rebounds to even a slightly below average level, STF scores about 10 points less. But rebounding is a mindset and you have to box out, and CM teams just don’t have it. It damn near cost us another game. Happy and surprised we won, but tonight’s effort won’t cut it in the A10 this year.

Absolutely! Would rather give up 98 and win than give up 70 and lose. It's the first game, and we don't even know how good or bad SFU will be. Plenty of positives tonight. Not only a healthy looking Nick, but six 3s from him, and 13 as a team. Sweeeeet. And, I agree about Burton. He is very much the real deal and it won't be long before he is getting 20+ minutes a game.

Burton scrapped extremely well on defense. Steals, deflections, blocked shots, and even a few rebounds. If he can repeat this effort next time out, he gets 20-25 minutes a game starting immediately.

That's how we came back against VCU two seasons ago. Maybe our only two double digit late comebacks of the last several years.

I'm glad we won. The boys showed a lot of fight. It's something we can build on. But that statement is pure spin.

The NEC champion has been in the First Four the last 7 seasons. Most of the teams in that conference (including STFU) schedule regular season games against Division II.

Yep. Good call. I'm amazed at how many times I see teams not worry about this. You should always go for a 2 for 1.
