23, you are the most negative poster on this board. You like to throw out comments designed to get responses that are outrageous. I don’t think you are a UR graduate at all. I challenge you to prove me wrong.
I believe you hit the nail on the head, I think he is a Radford graduate....Dedmon Center!!!

Yes, a couple weeks back I tried to get back on the sunny side and convince myself that when we landed Bryce Golden and a grad transfer to replace Khwan, along with the statement that we would not have any more attrition - we would be in good shape. But Mooney has failed to deliver on any of these yet. It is hard to stay positive.

I understand we have had a big guard on campus the last 2 days.

Any clue if the Swedish kid who just verbally committed was the big guard on campus? 6'5" so not sure if by big guard you meant by size or if you meant big as in a big name.

May want to check your geography.

Just meant Helsinki isn’t in Sweden...

But I think you noticed that.

Ha yeah you are correct there I flubbed the country. Got so excited we got a guy I didn't even pay attention to where he was really from!

Well, I really hope this guy is ready. Thinking Bryce Schneider has to be a better option for the upcoming year? Unless I am just misreading the competition badly in that highlight video.

Still am very worried about someone that can help Golden out and allow him to play defense. Really worried that this will be a TJ Cline type of situation, where Golden will have to play very carefully on D - which is a recipe for disaster considering our greatly compromised perimeter defense. Really thinking that we have a lot of eggs in the Phoenix Ford basket. Cayo will have to do a lot and improve a lot this offseason. He has some tools and I think he can do it, but its far from expected with Mooney.

Hate to be pessimistic, but the last several years have shown that you cannot expect contributions out of nowhere.

Right now I'm pessimistic as well, but I'm just glad we have options when it comes to big men off the bench and it isn't just the starter and then a grand transfer who will never play or a guard to play the rest of the minutes

So for next year, right now we only have Andre, right? Am I forgetting someone else?

I was forgetting Sal. Whoops. Sorry Sal!

I have no confidence that a grad transfer is good enough to come in and learn what needs to be learned to be successful in the system. Nor do I have confidence that Mooney would switch things up enough to make a grad transfer successful. I would rather stay away from grad transfers entirely.

I agree. It would be good to have another freshman who could contribute immediately.
I see that while Bacot trimmed his list he hasn't made his final decision...:D

Just wonderig, don’t we need to save some scholarships for 2019? We have 6 freshman for 2018 now and we will only lose JJ next year (in theory). Maybe Mooney is shooting his wad on the way out?

I think you always fill out your roster with scholarship players (unless you’re villanova). You assume some attrition (injuries, transfers, dismissals). And you just keep recruiting!

I totally agree. In the world of college basketball now days, the odds of all our recruits working out or staying
are somewhere between slim and none. This is not unique to CM; just ask Mark Turgeon at Maryland.

Unless we find a guy this late who can clearly help us next year, we should save the last one for next year.

There is no sense in holding scholarships. Too many guys decide to transfer.

The advantage to holding a scholarship open, or giving it to a walk-on / grad transfer, is that you can recruit for 2019 right now while there is still a large pool of good players who haven't committed yet instead of waiting for transfers to be announced next summer and scrambling to fill the open spots with a much, much, much smaller number of potential players like we are right now.

I see what you are saying about transfers, but there is no need to get to 13 just so you can get to 13. Not every school ends with 13, no team plays 13 guys, and every team has scholarship guys at the end of the bench who rarely play, so why waste one now?

Most classes are spread out so it normally would not be a big deal to give your last available scholarship to someone and hope they pan out. We are far from spread out right now, so we want to at least be able to go after multiple guys each of the next 2 years, especially when seeing what our needs and fit will be after these new guys get minutes.

Sure, maybe someone will transfer, but you cannot assume that when offering guys, and we are putting ourselves in a bad spot if we can only offer 1 scholarship over the next 2 years.

We seem stuck in this pattern of having 5-7 freshmen on our roster. It would be nice to get a second transfer like Francis who will come in and sit for a year and then play 2 or 3.

Stop being logical.

Right now we would be able to offer 2 scholarships in the next two years (Julius and Nick's spots) and the third one is open right now.
