"I don't know the answer to that question"...but unlike Mooney that statement is true I don't know. But it is exactly what Mooney is expecting the league to do here soon, & if so the league could start it whenever they like.
I actually think from Mooney's perspective - this game is a mistake as well to be honest. The only way this works out is if we beat VCU and look pretty good doing it, then he can say - the St. Mary's game really helped and he looks good.
But if we lose to VCU - then this St. Mary's game is for nothing. Whereas - if you don't play the St. Mary's game you lose to VCU, he has an excuse to use during the press conference - he can easily say the guys were rusty from the COVID layoff - not even really allowed to practice. And Hardt will agree and give him extension afterwards.

Man, a lot of people cereal got pissed in this morning. The irony of all of this is with the anticipated ice storm tomorrow the scrimmage or whatever you want to call it might not happen anyway.
Right now, if I look at most bracket predictions, we are still very much in the hunt for an at large and what we need to do is win the games remaining on our schedule. Beating VCU twice is pretty much a must. If St. Mary helps us to knock off that rust, I will say it was a good decision. What happens though if we still end up losing to VCU is the question in my mind? We shall find out soon enough.

Well, I do say we need to get the game against the D3 team in prior to playing VCU. I feel like having that scrimmage/game is going to help some, compared to going in cold. I think going in with no games/scrimmage will be very very tough.

I don't think the d3 game is some magic answer. but I'm glad we're playing a game before VCU, even if it's just a scrimmage. I'd rather not play them cold after about 19 days between games. I don't think that would have gone well.
if we lose to VCU it isn't because of the d3 game. but we can't lose to VCU. both VCU games are must wins at this point.

Point of clarification, I don't care if we look like absolute dog meat against VCU, so long as we end up with more points at the end of the game. Style points don't matter right now, W's do.
As S-man said, VCU is playing really well. It will be a tough game. But we have 4 seniors who have been playing together for a long time, VCU is very young and that should be the reason we win. Just F***ing win.
What I like is that VCU has ZERO Quad 1 wins, but we have two. And if we beat them Wednesday, we will have three. And if Kentucky finally wins a couple games, we will have four.
Even my girlfriend who knows nothing about sports and actively dislikes them has never referred to the tournament as “the final four tournament”. I have never heard anybody ever say that before. I presume you have not either but are using it as an excuse for being wrong instead of just saying “I was wrong, my bad”
Turns out I’ve been to 4 Super Bowls! They weren’t the actual Super Bowl but they were The super bowl tournament (Aka first round of the playoffs).

speaking of Quad wins it will be interesting how the NET calculates league tourney games. Whether they r neutral or not when we play on our home court? I expect the NET will view those as home games vs neutral if we r in semis or finals. I’m sure they answered that question in past given some low major conferences already do this. We r already under pressure to get Ws but that adds a little more.
You don’t seem to understand that *none* of us knew what you were talking about. That’s what started all of this. You said something that was wrong, and then when someone said “hey this is not accurate, here’s what actually happened” you doubled down and cussed him out instead of thanking him for correcting you so that you don’t make a similar mistake in front of other company. I’m overjoyed when someone can help me not make a fool out of myself.

And believe it or not, VCU has lost in the first round of the tournament so many times that I can’t remember each and every one of them. The only ones I really remember strongly was the most recent beatdown at the hands of UCF, but the one I think of most fondly is the complete meltdown against SFA.
Hey buddy, it’s not just him. Go back and read what you wrote. 99% of people probably thought you meant St. Mary’s beat VCU in the final four, or maybe in the elite 8 to go to the final four? Butler beat VCU that year in the final four and is a similar mid major type school to St Mary’s, so they thought that was your mistake. No need for all the anger, you can just clarify what you meant.

fwiw I’ve heard Mike Tomlin call the NFL playoffs the Super Bowl tournament.
Mooney looks like he's taking a page out of Satchmo's book. Next week he'll be on his couch, legs kicked back, drinking a 40.
Mooney says in the pre-game press conferenece that we talked to some ODAC schools, but it didn't work out.
Satchmo is a pro he doesn’t rub his face like Mooney did constantly.
