Does anyone know what is taking place with Rocco's contract? I am disappointed that we haven't heard about an extension or budget increases for assistant coaches salaries. I am concerned. If nothing is going on, then our administration has dropped the ball. I promise you that this will be used against us in recruiting.

do we even know what his current contract is? he may have received a nice bonus, contractually, for this season's suceess and he might have a rolling contract that takes care of itself. why would something we don't know about be a negative?

Simply because of no announcement. Those need to be public to show the university support of our football program. It sends a very positive vibe to recruits. I realize that $$ may not be public but extensions usually are. Hopefully something has been done. . Departments usually are quick to show the support to the public.

Not to worry. DR is being well taken care of and am sure recruits know where he stands with university.

Saw Rocco at the basketball game Saturday and he was his usual happy positive self so sure looks like a good sign to me. Good show of support for the football (and basketball) recruits in attendance.

72, hope you are correct. I will say if he did not get an extension then we are not supporting him properly. He is well paid and i realize that. I just cant understand why no release was out about an extension. SOP. Coach's of the Year get and deserve public mention of reward.

just don't see this as being any kind of big deal or a negative. maybe R&B you want a 10 year deal and if so, make it happen with your money. you don't have to be shouting what is going on with your coachs' contracts, if it is an issue with a recruit or his fam, you tell them what your terms are but bet it never gets mentioned or questioned.

Did not mean to be "shouting". I just was asking whether anything had been done. Your sarcasm was not necessary.

you started this thread and go back and take a look at what you shared. you seemed to intimate that we had a crisis going on and am only saying, don't think we do. heck contracts for coaches/schools are not worth the paper they are written on as far as retaining a coach, they can leave in a heartbeat if a good offer comes along, just as they can be fired in a heartbeat if they are not producing what the donors expect. certainly they do protect the coach and they also protect the school but it does not mean to a recruit or his family that that the coach(s) sitting down with them this year is going to be there next year.

Spinner, certainly understand your comment, but UR track record in the past hos not been to fire mid contract. But much has changed and this may also change. I don't know if R&B is right or not, but he generally has a good handle on what's going on at UR.

What I do know is Danny is likely the most successful Coach we have at UR now. The program has generally improved each year he has been here. I only hope the University has recognized this and rewarded him accordingly

It is conceivable that Rocco thinks he'll have even more leverage with the school for a bigger/longer contract in 12 months than he does now presently.

hey, want him here and want him happy here and just because we have not come out publicly and given him anything does not mean he has not been taken care of as he should be. just don't think we have a prob here but certainly could be wrong. as long as we don't give him a 10 year deal, will be happy.

The difference between the football program and basketball program is evident based on conference championships and playoff trips in recent years. I know many will say FCS football is a lower level but you can only be expected to beat who you play and perform at a consistently high level. The football team led by Rocco has done that and been at its best against local rivals. The basketball team has not. For that alone, Coach Rocco should be rewarded.

keep in mind that basketball in the A-10 actually brings in some money whereas fcs football loses money and probably costs us money to participate in the playoffs thus the reward difference in coaching remuneration.

I'm impressed with Coach Rocco and I certainly hope and believe the University will do whats right. BUT can we please ban the term '10 year' from use anywhere on this board (unless it's talking about a 10 year consecutive playoff appearances, or any other positive achievement that has happened in the past)
