Revised schedule

Eight Legger

Feb. 20 at 4:30 PM vs Duquesne
Feb. 23 at 6 PM vs Massachusetts
Feb. 26 at 7 PM at Saint Louis
March 1 at 6 PM vs Saint Joseph's

So basically 3 bad teams and the SLU game. No second VCU game. Three home games, which further reduces our ability to get better quality quad wins. The league obviously has relegated us and we have zero chance at the tournament unless we win the A10 tournament.

That's why EL the new A10 tourney schedule helps. If I read it right, top 4 seed you play 2 in 2 and then a layoff. Other way 3 in 3 with layoff. For me there's not a better upside offense than UR in the A10. Yes VCU held the Spiders down but if on target I believe no A10 defense can stop their offense. Haven't seen it but could happen for 3 or if necessary 4 games. Jacob needs to be his old self.

Fair point. I suppose regardless, the idea of having to win four games in four days is out the window at least, which is nice.

This shows that our veteran AD along with the longest tenured coach in the A10 have ZERO pull. Why again r they around?

Remember just the other day when they were both talking about getting the strongest teams possible. This was result. Lol.

Kind of get how is league treating us but also demonstrates these 2 might not even be very respected by their own league.

Any chance this new schedule (ours and others) improves our chances at a higher seed in the A-10 Tournament?

Any chance they decided to improve Top 50 teams at large chances and 50-99 teams they tried to improve AQ chances?

So we beat up on the bad teams and close the season with momentum heading into next year (despite missing the ncaa tournament)...feel like I’ve seen this before

This sure does look like they are protecting VCU and Bonny, for good reason. VCU gets St. Louis, Mason, and Davison, and Bonny gets Davison, GW, and Dayton.

We lose a scheduled opportunity against VCU (good thing we traded home games!) and potential ones @ Bonny and @ Dayton. And pick up garbage in return. Nothing less than we earned for ourselves, I have to say.

Whatever. All you can do is win the games in front of you and see what happens.

I’m sure Mooney is happy with the schedule. East games for him to rack up wins and say “we got better at the end of the season”. Just locks him even further into the job for the foreseeable future.

I'll be honest. It's clear that in order to be regularly relevant in the NCAA bid process, we need a change. But I want us in this year. I don't care how we get there. At all.

Every other team gets covid during the a10 tourney and we make it by default? Fine. The best players on every other team get injured and we win the tourney? Fine. We play four great games and earn our way in? Terrific. Recruiting violations are uncovered against a dozen other teams and they're banned, so we make it? Wonderful.

I don't care. Whatever. It. Takes. Period. We can deal with the rest afterwards. We must make the tournament this year. There's no alternative.

Agree..if we were closer to the bubble we would have been given better match ups.

At this point, our only chance of getting in was by winning the conference tournament anyway. So I'd rather play mid level teams like Duquesne and Umass than take 2 losses to VCU and Bona, and have a terrible seed as a result. If we take care of business and Davidson and Umass take a beating (as I expect they will) we could back our way into a top 4 double bye

This. No one cares about the covid excuses at this point valid or not. If anything, it’s about the biggest equalizer and a barometer since literally every program in the country is dealing with it.

All you need to do is look across town to see how it’s been handled to see we have failed miserably across the board so far. I get one maybe two pauses. 3!? Then the whole SLU debacle with no transparency? Yea I’m not gonna put us into that’s all just bad luck.

Whats embarrassing the most about all of this is I never respect nor will respect vcu but am forced to admit they at least know they take covid serious and use it to their advantage and likely to get a huge payoff for it. They get it. They get that having a strong basketball program helps, not harms their reputation.(vomits in back of mouth)

Oh and they absolutely enjoy puffing their chests out (who can blame them) while our administration twiddles their thumbs and our rivals continue to get better in both sports and say “well we compete hard, please don’t hurt us too much!”

I’m tired of referring to VCU as our rivals they own us and until our administration admits the problem it will continue, (they won’t, Bobby B misrepresented a very long matter of fact text I sent on the show the day after and boiled it down to a ranting fan didn’t read any of it and then said the VCU game is a rivalry.)

Mooney, Huesman or whoever comes next isn’t going to magically fix the problems we have above them and inhibits them and that’s what scares me the most. I’m even more angry with what we allowed to happen to our football program, personally.

All that being said....they still somehow have a chance to get into the tournament and right this wrong. So here’s to hoping since that’s about all we can do.

Duquesne replaces LaSalle, fine.
St Joe replaces Fordham, Daly May return by then but ok.
SLU remains.
But why switch UMass from away to home?

We weren't supposed to play SJU again were we? Why not give us Dayton instead? In general it seemed like they were trying to avoid teams playing a second time in order to give them first-time opponents, so this makes no sense.

Daly is back as of today. 9 points at the half as St. Joe's leads La Salle. He should be getting back up to full speed in time to face us.

La Salle down three and definitely in danger…Ashley Howard just got ejected for his second tech.

I don't know that beating LaSalle is any great measuring stick for St. Joe's though. And of course NOW Kentucky decides to maybe pull an upset, after it no longer matters to us.

La Salle pulls out the win. Daly goes for 21 and 7 in his return.

Edit: Oh wait, goaltending…overtime!

St. Joe’s gets their first A-10 win. Daly with 30, Hall gets a triple double with 22-12-10.

Under the assumption that we have in fact been relegated to a tier2 candidate in the A10, this is a not so subtle reminder why in particular this season you can’t afford to take your foot off the gas. Win the Hofstra and LaSalle games and we’re probably in the tier1 group and not the tier2 group.

Nonsense. We were told that the Hofstra loss had less than a 1% chance of hurting us.

after the GMU win, conference leaders probably wishing they had waited until after today to adjust

Our university leaders told us they would be working to schedule us the best possible games.

Big hat no cattle.

Bob Black and Greg Beckwith alluded to this in their post game comments. They thought the league made the changes unilaterally to benefit VCU and Saint Louis, but both lost today. The scheduling has backfired and has really helped Davidson and UMass.
