Seriously. The guy is a high achiever that's pumping alot of his money into Richmond Athletics. Friendships are a two way street. What is he getting back? Is it simply recreational gambling and he enjoys the conversations with Chris at the Tavern?

One might argue that you don’t “get” anything from a friend, it’s not really a transaction. At least that’s how I operate with my friends.
For the obstinate among us, i think our relationships with other go something like this..
"I like Mikey because he's fun"
"Sally is cool because she's an intellectual like me"
"I love my wife because she's sweet and she has sex with me occasionally. She likes me because i make money and i am charming".
So what the hell does Queally get out of being friends with Mooney? He is dumping money into a losing proposition and he really seems to enjoy it. Why?

Why in the world would he think he would not have access to the next, real coach that they bring in here? He will probably even be in on the interviews.
I know Mo, I know. I have made that point too. BUT maybe the next coach will not provide the same level of discourse over a cold one at the Tavern. Maybe that is the fear.

PQ was chatting up the Mooney clan at halftime - all laughs and smiles. Whatever personal relationship is there is clouding the judgement of the most powerful person in our athletic department.
It's as if the Mooneys are his only friends in Richmond. How do we get him more friends down here?

I am tasking Choppin and Mo to befriend PQ and get to the bottom of this. If he is reading this board it will be tough, but if not I think these guys are resourceful enough to pull it off.

I have been theorizing this on the board for quite some time. I have been mostly treated like Don Quixote fighting his windmills. But the stench of our program is opening eyes to the reality of my ramblings. You can't handle this truth. It is code red time.

I can probably afford two meals with family per month at The Tavern. And maybe one with my wife at Buckheads. If I can do that with Queally ... And then you do the same, we could be onto something here.

Well, there is more to this "connect" than just Mooney. If what I have been told is true, then maybe after a couple years the other "reason" may move on and so will he and his money.
But remember to, he is the one that ran Bobby Ukrop off over the Lacrosse issue. That says a lot about how much influence he has over UR and its Athletic Department.
I've really struggled with this. PQ has done a lot of great things for this Univ, and his support is fantastic. That said, one person shouldn't have that much influence to the point where they're the de facto Univ Pres/AD/BoT Chairman, etc calling the shots from the corner of the room.
Maybe some of the seasoned posters here can help put it into perspective. Is the PQ influence anything different from what was seen from Robins, Weinstein, etc?
Can you elaborate on this? It doesn't sound like it has any reason to be some secret. PQ has been involved with UR for quite some time, it certainly pre dates Mooney. That is a fact. He may be buddies with Mooney and Hardt and his involvement has increased, which is natural to lot of extents, just saying - and I could be wrong - I wouldn't expect him to go anywhere over personnel.
