I beg to differ from this tweet. I think the fans that put the infamous billboard up are the true heroes of this NCAA run. This program was absolutely dead and going nowhere until the billboard went up. It lit a fire under the players’, coaches’, and admin’s collective asses to win. Before the sign we were 25-40 and after the sign we are 62-28. The fans behind the billboard should get free court side seats and parking for life. I truly thank the Billboard Warriors!!
Spider-Man I find myself agreeing with your posts often and I appreciate your insight/perspective. But you’re getting this one completely wrong.the turnaround was well under way before the billboard. whatever happened 7-9 years before in recruiting was behind us. we had already been recruiting much better. we had young talent. it took awhile to gel.
the billboard in no way helped. it didn't even help short term.
it may have helped keep Mooney, though. so in retrospect maybe you're right and the billboarders are heros who got us where we are today.
