MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse knocked off VMI 12-6 on Saturday to collect its first win of the season. Chris DiPretoro and Jack Mangan combined for six goals and two assists to lead the way for the Mountaineers. DiPretoro tallied a game-high four goals to go along with one assist as he moved his way closer to the 100 career goal plateau. Mangan added two goals, one assist and three caused turnovers, and Joe Bethke and Jared McMahon also netted a pair of goals apiece in the contest. Sam Stephan was impressive once again in the face-off circle, going 13-of-18 (.722) and picking up six ground balls. Goalie Dylan Furnback made a season-high 15 saves and finished with a .714 save percentage to record the victory.

DIPRETORO CLOSING IN ON 100:Senior attackman Chris DiPretoro scored a season-high four goals in the victory over VMI on Saturday, pushing him to 98 goals in his collegiate career. With two more scores, DiPretoro would become the 13thplayer in program history to reach the 100-goal milestone. Matt Warner (2003-06) is the Mount's all-time leader in career goals with 138.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:Sophomore goalie Dylan Furnback was named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Furnback made a combined 28 saves in contests against #20 Georgetown and VMI this past week. The sophomore stopped 13 shots and posted a .500 save percentage in a 13-11 setback against the Hoyas on Tuesday, before following it up with a season-high 15 saves and a .714 save percentage in the team's win over VMI on Saturday. Furnback has made double-digit saves in four of five contests this season

TOUGH SLATE:Tuesday’s contest will mark the third game against a ranked opponent this season for the Mountaineers. They previously fell to #10 Towson, 12-7, and were clipped by #20 Georgetown, 13-11, last Tuesday despite holding a lead in the fourth quarter against the Hoyas. The Mountaineers have five wins all-time against ranked opponents, with their last victory coming in 2013 against 18th-ranked Bucknell.

SCOUTING #14 RICHMOND:The Spiders were edged by #3 Maryland, 10-9, in the season opener before winning three straight, including a 9-8 victory over #6 Notre Dame, as they vaulted into the national rankings. Even with a loss to #6 Duke last time out, the Spiders still hold the #14 ranking in the USILA Coaches Poll and #15 spot in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Richmond's offense is led by Teddy Hatfield (13g, 11a) and Ryan Lanchbury (17g, 4a). Goalie Jack Rusbuldt owns a .510 save percentage and 10.44 goals against average in five games.

INSIDE THE SERIES:Tuesday’s matchup marks the fifth straight season in which the Mount and Richmond will face off. The Spiders have won each of the previous four meetings, including a 13-10 victory last season. Brenden McCarthy and Chris DiPretoro led the Mountaineers with a combined five goals in that contest.

MSM came to play today. Excellent communication on defense from them paired with what appears to be apathy from our team isn’t looking good. Don’t think we’ve won a faceoff yet.
 
Gave up game tying goal with 1 sec left. Tough way to finish the 4th. Hope they can pull this out in OT.
