Mens - VCU @ RC - Tuesday 2/25 7pm CBS Sports Network (Red-out I think)

Can anyone who still cares to be supportive of this point please agree that if we're playing exclusively man-to-man and we constantly end up with B. Artis or Mikkel guarding a big on the block with no help that we likely aren't executing properly?

In EVERY SINGLE GAME WE'VE PLAYED THIS YEAR.

As I've said about fifteen separate times this year... i have ZERO issue with the level of effort from these guys all year.

That non-call is absolutely criminal.

You can have any opinion you like including wanting him gone... but if you're objecting to him getting a T in that spot... I don't even know what to say.
He got a foul because he obstructed the official from running the floor. I don't think it was anything he said.

I didn’t like the no call either but u r on a 13-0 run it’s a bad time to get the T. I don’t mind a coaches T but strategically.

Anyway it will distract from another blowout loss to Vcu. 59 points deficit in 2 games. Absurd.

Even the announcers said how we gave them a test. If u want to call 9 points w not much time left a test in a game we had no chance to win & out of it by 1st Tv timeout, then sure.

9-27. With so many being blowouts.

WORST Rivalry coach of ALL TIME.

This wasn't a 50-50 block/charge.... and I understand the game situation. I'm clearly in the minority here, but if you don't take one there, IMO, you should never take one.

With all of that said, I agree completely, this is distracting from the bigger issue.

tyne 6 for 16
wallz our top rebounder with 4,
vcu had 4 guys with more rebounds than that
our guys played hard, good effort
just not enough a-10 talent
have we EVER played a zone defense?
when your opponent is in the process of scoring 51 in the half don’t you have to do something to give your team a chance to win?
Plan: call timeout and change nothing

Just an awful time to take a T in that situation-we cut it to single digits, had momentum, had made multiple stops on D and you give them free points and the ball - game over as soon as that happened. We likely don’t win either way, but that made it pretty guaranteed not to win.

You can add that to the Moon against VCU hall of fame of techs at the end of games exhibit. That one, the 6 men on the court and the no TOs TO.

I was screened at my seat and didnt see the no call that led to the Moon T. But he was out on the court, I could see the spit coming out of his mouth as he yelled, absolutely warranted.

And he damn sure tried to get another one up until the final horn, kinda surprised he didnt.

Weird game. Obviously UR is undermanned. But shot 50 something percent in the first half and didn't defend anyone. And for the run they made late, the second half ended up being even. Had a few chances to get it from nine to 7 or 6, then the T and it's all she wrote.

Will we try anything different tonight? We saw what happened when we tried our normal rotation and strategy last time - they showed us what a chasm there is between our two programs right now.

How about throwing in some full court press? Crash the boards? Play 5 guards? Play 2 or even 3 bigs? Play hack-a-Shaq with their bigs (who mostly shoot free throws sub-50%)? Anything to change it up!

Or will we go with our standard plan, pray that we make 3's way above our season average and lightning strikes to give us a win?

I have my guess...
We ran the same stuff, used the same lineups and absolutely did no pressing even when we were down 18+ for much of the game.

Why change it up when it’s (not) working.

We are not playing man defense. It’s the switching man/matchup zone defense.

It doesn’t work.

I think you can express your frustration without getting Td up. Usually those Ts come after you’ve been warned, so likely an accumulation.

Regardless, you actually can’t take a T at that point as you kill all momentum.

Lmao at the JOC game article. He says Spids have lost 16 of 21 to Vcu. Uh John just go with entire tenure 9-27. Literally any point of time u could look at & it would be terrible. Ok lost 16 of 21, that means we’ve lost 11 of previous 15 right b4 it. 5-16 & 4-11. It’s like a game swing, probably even less percentage wise.
