I'd like to see us get on this ASAP and to be aggressive with it. Villanova has had two games cancelled and filled both immediately - - - playing within a day each time of the originally scheduled date. The Northern Iowa game has lost some luster after they have opened 0-3. Another good game to replace Detroit would be hugE!

Going to have to match up with a team somewhat close, I would imagine, and one that also lost a game due to someone else's COVID. Not a lot of wiggle room because exams are coming up for everyone, and we just made ourselves a lot more unattractive to teams that want a win. Probably looking at a buy game (if we even do that) against a lesser opponent unless we can find a top-75 type that will play us at their place.

Something like NC State which had to cancel today's game after W&M shut down.

One problem is that we don't have many obvious gaps in our schedule to plug a game in. It's already 3 or 4 days between all of our games with the exception of the 8-day gap for Christmas. So maybe something on 12/27 or 28 before we play Davidson on the 30th?

I'm not so sure it's important to make up the game. usually we're looking for big wins to get respect. we're currently ranked. we've got respect. we just need to stay away from losses at this point.

I do agree with that to some extent. You normally want as many shots at marquee wins as you can get, but we already took advantage of that on our first opportunity, so we've largely checked that box. (Doesn't mean I don't want more scalps though!)

Normally it's really not good to not schedule to the max, but think there are going to be quite a few programs doing that this year amidst the craziness, so shouldn't really be held against anybody.

Sadly think Ferrum is right about Hoos ever playing us again in Robins. They make the most sense as both teams need a game but when did making the most sense ever apply? Although I could walk to a game at JPJ the way we have been hosed there by the refs in the past does not make such a game attractive. How about a really wild dream of playing them on a closeby neutral court?

Goochland High School gymnasium. Let's make it happen!

Curious as to why Virginia has literally played every D1 school in the state in the past three years except Richmond.

There is some "dynamic" involved. Remember back when we had the deal with UVA for them to play some other opponent in our gym for two games over two seasons so Richmond area fans did not have to travel to Charlottesville to see them and then three games with us over three seasons - one of which they were the "home" team. After we beat them when they were the "home" team don't think they would play the remaining game at Robins. Last time we played them was CBA at their place and we should have won the game but the refs made certain that did not happen. One memorable play KA was knocked to the floor and UVA got the ball and scored. It was so bad that Jerry Ratcliffe, then the main UVA sports reporter for the Charlottesville Daily Progress, said in the paper something to the effect of there were less "muggings" on the UVA "Corner" than at JPJ. Don't understand it all but UVA has different AD now and for whatever reason they don't play us. They have a terrific coach in Tony Bennett but one has to guess he has not raised the issue of playing us?

Virginia and Va Tech need to schedule state teams every year and visit those schools too at least every third time. I really wish we had an annual governor’s cup type tourny for bragging rights with about eight Virginia schools.

Virginia Tech would play UR this year I think. They already scheduled Villanova last minute so I could see them doing the same for UR. Mike Young is an in state guy so I’m sure he would see the value of playing the Spiders. Would love to see it happen.

UVA or VT this year may be a good game to see, but I am not sure if the same could be said in any return game in the next 1-2 years so I wouldn’t be wishing for a home and home. Second, UR should play either school wherever. It is rather obvious that the home court advance is greatly reduced this year, especially currently in State with the 250 cap.

I agree with others that another marquee game is not needed. The West Virginia game will be the litmus test and it is rather unlikely that a marquee team is going to come to Robins at this point. Also, do you really want UVA or VT in Robins when no one can go to the game?

Yes, because if there was a year we could be competitive, it is this one, fans or not!

I was at the CBA game and agree it was the worst officiated game in the history of college bball. I have never been that angry over sports.

That game was a disgrace to the game of basketball. I was near the front row under one of the baskets and couldn't believe my eyes the entire game. And yet no matter how badly they tried to screw us, KA still almost won us the game.

An even wilder dream, get this finished in time for it to be that "close by neutral court"...

I think you mean Geriot, who was outstanding and almost won the game for us.
