so to the guys here who seemed adamant that Khwan was leaving because he wants a better chance to dance ... still sticking with that being the driving reason?

Fore is seeking a team that plays a run & press style in order to better highlight what he sees as his best attributes. An NCAA caliber team would certainly be a plus, but he has to be careful not to choose a team whose guards will put him on the bench most of the time.

Still more plausible than Mooney's "going pro" smoke and mirrors show. Point 23.

Wait, you say Fore told Mooney that? I've got some swampland for sale too.

actually, Fore said it himself
When Fore announced is transfer plans at Richmond, he included the possibility of starting his professional basketball career, but that option is fading.

“That was early on in my process,” he said. “But right now I’m kind of leaning toward going back for a fifth year.”

I remember a guy starting for UR a few years ago that was 2 for 25 from 3.

Early in the process was what, two weeks ago? Lol. He was never seriously thinking about going pro.

Looks like what Khwan said was true, wanted to be closer to home. A shocker people thought he was lying. Glad he was able to do so and will be catching some Vols games next season to see him play! Hopefully can see him in the tourney next year.

You are absolutely fooling yourself if you think this is the reason he's now at Tennessee. He will play less there then he would have here, and he likely will not be able to showcase himself for the pros the way he would have here. This is about making it to the NCAA tournament, plain and simple. It's a nice bonus for him that it's a little closer to his home.

Interesting that out of all his interviews after announcing he was leaving us, to the ones today after announcing Tenn., he has never said anything about the NCAA tourney. Not once. He did say he wanted to play closer to home several times, and the 3 schools he visited are significantly closer to his home than Richmond.

Richmond. 645 miles from home.
Knoxville (Tennessee) is 215.
Birmingham (UAB} is 100.
Johnson City (ETSU) is 315.

But, we should believe you and not Khwan because you know more about him than he does, and because you are never wrong, right?

He's not going to publicly come out and say, I wanted to go to a school that gave me a better chance to make the NCAA tournament than Richmond did. But why else do you go to a higher caliber program with the knowledge that you will play less as a senior? Answer me that.

if all he wanted was to be closer to home, I bet he could have found a school that was closer than 4 hours away.

And I have never once said that I am never wrong, but keep making stuff up if it makes you feel better. I can promise you I know more about this situation than you do.

I think it is very possible he would have played a lot less here next year anyway. And, Knoxville, only 3 1/2 hours away, is a heck of a lot closer than 650 miles away. How many colleges are closer to Huntsville than Tennessee? Here is what I posted a few weeks ago which still makes the most sense to me:

Khwan needs to find the best fit for himself, but worrying about making the tourney should have little to do with the decision. I think he should either find a mid major where he can be the key PG, or maybe end up at a school like Tenn., where he might not start, but can play in a major conference against teams like Ky. and play in a place like Rupp Arena. That might be fun, new, and exciting to him. Who knows? Only he knows exactly what he wants out of his senior year.

I think he felt, like we all do, we had to get taller next year, and he was not beating out Jacob, so it was either stay here with reduced playing time, or see what else is out there. We all loved his positives, but his negatives in relation to our team is he is 6 feet tall and does not shoot well from outside. What do we need to change and improve on next year? We need more height and better outside shooting. I think he realized this when considering playing time. Nothing wrong with his decision and I wish him the best.

The idea that he would have played less here next year then he did this year merits a response only of laughter.

We went 12-20 with the small lineup last year. Thinking he would either beat out Jacob or we would go small all year again is what is laughable.

What's laughable is thinking Mooney is going to sit an upperclassman for an underclassman if he isn't forced to do so. Have you not followed this team for more than one year? Weren't you around for this arguement a couple of years ago? Oh, wait. You weren't. Fore would have played all the minutes he wanted.

Exactly. I would love to see one example of Mooney intentionally reducing a senior's playing time after he had started 2 years or more. THE WHOLE ARGUMENT ABOUT WHY WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MUCH BETTER NEXT YEAR WAS THAT IT TAKES TIME FOR PLAYERS TO LEARN MOONEY'S SYSTEMS! You think he was going to cut the PT of the ONE PLAYER who had the most experience AND was pretty good?

Technically... Wood, Taylor, Brothers, Geriot, Kevin Smith, KA, and Gonzo all were starters at some point and all played fewer minutes per game as seniors than some previous season.

I know this answer was not the spirit of your question, but we have been through this many times. I would bet Mooney is in the top 4 or 5 in the A10 in terms of freshmen minutes played in his tenure. Not playing freshmen when Trey and Deion were here (when people started complaining about it) was more due to horrible recruiting than an unwillingness to supplant upperclassmen. Who should have played over them?

Also, Khwan would have started here 100% and would have played 30 minutes a game if he had stayed, not trying to argue otherwise.

I'll take that bet. Although saying he's in the top 4 or 5 gives you the advantage. I'm guessing his percentage has gone up dramatically the last year or so.

Ran the numbers for Mooney, 41 minutes per game for freshmen over his time here. I'm too lazy to run all the other A10 teams.
