@SpiderDad75 This ridiculous string is the reason you need to get off this board. I know you won't, but you're not doing you son any favors by arguing about PT for Dji with guys who had wished we had lost to Davidson and are still trying to re-write the history of the season. So CM started Sherod? He pulled him from SL after 2 games. Isiah did a great job on the defensive end in the OOC. But when Gilly wasn't shooting well from 3, no one guarded Isiah and he struggled. Goose never looked back after the first tv timeout of the davidson game at home.

as a travel coach, it was impossible to be happy in practice. for every good play on offense there's a problem on defense. the negatives always bothered me more.
there's no way that one handed baseline pass from Nelson pass should get through to Noyes. I can't tell who's defending. Bigelow maybe?
I'm with you about defense...I think moving forward we have to stop guys up top. That will keep Grace and Neal out of foul trouble. We have the talent defensively to do it. Stopping dribble penetration will be key. We can't let our guards get beat up top bc our help defense hasn't been great in the past but keeps our bigs out of foul trouble too.
totally agree! not only foul trouble, but that need for help forces rotations where eventually someone ends up with a wide open shot.
every offense wants to force help. limit the need for help and your defense will be solid.
I think most everyone on here feels SDad75 brings a lot to this board, and we would not want him to stop posting. I always look forward to seeing what he says about stuff. I would maybe see your point if he got on here and constantly praised his son, while questioning the coaches and other players. But, he is not like that. Shoot, I got on him awhile back when I thought he might have been criticizing too much, and he calmly replied back in a classy way, explaining his thoughts. It was me who went overboard then, not him, yet he still replied in a respectful way. What respect I thought I had lost for him when I thought he was criticizing our guys turned into big time respect for him because of how he replied. Even on this thread, when it might have looked like I was criticizing Dji while praising Wilson, he again replied to that in a classy way. SDad75 gets it. He just does. We are all pulling for Dji, and my guess if he has a bad game, SDad75 will be okay with what he might here on here. Like he said, just don't make it personal.
True. And JOC has covered this team long before Mooney was here. I believe he does have his fingers on the pulse of the program & is more than just to be classified as a local writer. My take is that Mooney showed his poker hand to JOC for the article.
the guy covering Noyes is 20 feet away from where the pass is thrown and almost in a direct line between Nelson and Noyes. the ball must wiz right past his head. he just didn't expect the pass.
Or, maybe it is a drill where they do what they were supposed to do? You don't want the pass stolen every time that play is run in practice. It looks to me like it is a pre determined offensively focused 3 on 5 drill. The ball handler drives, gets cut off, and passes to the baseline for the 3. My guess is there were probably other guys running that same type play, so the defense would actually know what is coming there. It's like when we work on our screens and back door cuts, and other offensive sets. Hard to practice offensive drills if the defense steals the ball every time.

Can somebody ban this guy? This post exemplifies why you should get off the board. Not only do you make bad points, you also keep calling for something that nobody else agrees with. Just stop posting and leave. SDad’s contributions are hugely insightful and one of the main reasons I continue to read the board (it addition to VT, Spiderman, SF, Spider23 and occasionally eight Legger and 97)

to me it shouldn't matter if it's 4 on 4. if the defender is in correct position and it looks like he is, that pass should be easily stolen unless VT's guess is correct.
interesting. I don't like the drill I guess. I like the pass if it's open. but if the defender is there I don't think it should be thrown.
I agree, but with fours obviously we are short a man. That pass more times than not will not be there and if its thrown when there is a defender we may need to sub 😁
I see the defender on the ball, another one above them guarding the guy swinging around toward them, and then 3 defensive guys in the middle with Noyes on the baseline for the 3. That is why I was thinking 3 on 5 drill (unless one of the guys in the middle is on offense? If so, confusing because all 3 in the middle have blue shirts on 😀). But, it just looks like to me where the ball handler drives, gets cut off, and either throws baseline for the 3, or up top to the guy coming around.
I guess I am not following you here because drills are not like actual game scrimmages. So, you have to have drills where passes will get thrown to shooters and the defenders will allow the pass to get there. For example, if we are working on back door cuts and I know that defensively, I can't just steal the backdoor pass everytime because then, we would never be able to work on our back door lay ups. And, Noyes would never shoot a 3 from the corner in practice because the pass would always get stolen.
It is confusing...I could be wrong but I know they have been running 4s this week.

Only u said to be banned. There r & have been situations where it’s justified. & I’m not a fan of obvious trolls. But this is nothing like that.
we have a loyal but smaller community we should be looking to grow it. U haven’t been around too long but there are lot of good posters who I wish were still here.
It’s not a drill… it’s just 4 against 4 playing basketball. Nelson saw an opening and made the pass. If it gets there in the game are you going to tell him not to throw it?
