Nothing personal and I think Huesman would be a good choice, but if I recall correctly; as much as I respect Clawson he also recommended Scott? Hiring a Head coach is a real crap shoot. Has Gill ever hired one for football or basketball program.

Do you really think Scott was that bad a coach? I still remember the small miracle he pulled off at UMass, when our top 3 quarterbacks were down. I don't think he did a bad job of coaching, obviously he was fired for off field problems. I find no fault for Clawson recommending Scott.

He took over a team that was one 4th down stop away from a national semifinal, got some FBS transfers to replace graduations, and went 6-5.
He wasn't "that bad" but was probably the wrong man to start the on-campus era.

I mean, they offered the job to Huesman, so that says something. If they wanted to suck at football, they would have offered it to someone who is coaching H.S. somewhere.

That could have been Dave Rocco, Danny's brother, coach of Charlottesville High School.....................

I believe our ex-coach said it best...there's no plan B. We can't ask KJ to burn his redshirt again, can we?

My prediction is that we make no real push for him at all. And remember, he and Danny are tight - - Danny is going to talk to him and I don't think what he has to say is gonna be real complimentary about the opportunity here!

Russ will not be relying on input from Danny!!!!!

the only reason his name is on here is because of us not anyone in the admin. he is on here because we had a very good D here with him under Clawson and we hated to lose him, think we would have had another national championship had he remained. not sure if he is interested in coming back here or if we are interested in what he would cost us. am thinking BROADWAY, vt hates him so he must be great.

Afraid not Web.....Huesman's name has been at the top of the list since he left. He was next choice following London!

heck, am all for RH, and thought he would be high on our list but it is us on here who put his name up nobody else. there is not one person, well David, who was in the Robins Center when Russ was here and not sure if KG has any kind of list of football coaches to go to, should but not sure he does.

Many fans and others thought Huesman was the key to Clawson's success! And remember he remained one year after DC left and helped London to lead the team to the National Championship. Told me this summer....he'll never forget the "Spider Walk" in Chatty when the team got off the bus!! Thought it had a lot to do with the team's motivation for the Ntional Championship! Rocco did not like "Spider Walks".....wonder why......not his idea??

Huesman would rush more than 3 at EWU.

Can you imagine Gubrud having that much time against Sidbury/Logan/Parker/Miles et al?
Come on guys it was very icy and the kids didn't decide to rush 3. Bigger issue is the supposed winter gear. There was none other than a few hand warmers. Not sure where the blame for this falls, but paper clearly said they would be issued winter gear.

Nobody said anything about the kids. This is the Huesman v Rocco thread. Huesman liked to bring pressure against the top QBs in the playoffs.

Spiderprovider, you seem very familiar to me in your posting style. I wonder about your background. You say your son is at UR? Is he on the team?

If they are up to $325 and we are at $450 I think we are flirting with danger. This is based on nothing but I think $500 is the number.

What I would like to know is why did we pass on Huesman on the several occasions we have had to hire a HC since 2008?

do we pay Huesman more than Rocco? How do we afford assistants? Will Huesman make a run to put Healy on his staff?

Correct me if my memory fails me, but hasn't every recent hire in football been the "guy we wanted?"
Clawson, London, Scott, & Rocco were all the first name I remember being bandied about.

So now that Huesman's offer has leaked, Gill can't afford to lose him. Otherwise that would be our first rejection in quite some time.

I understand a fair number of the staff want to remain at Richmond. If we get Huesman he may give Danny a surprise

Well, in 2008, we hired Mike and it worked out OK (thanks to Russ' help). in 2010, he had been at his Alma mater only 2 years and in 2011, he had been there 4 years. Perhaps it was just too soon for everyone.

I know we talked to Rocco when we hired Scott - Danny wasn't ready to leave Liberth yet.

Just read on the UT Mocs board that they can't match our salary; Huesman's wife is from Virginia; and their AD may be hired as Tennessee's AD (or maybe already has been). We may be able to get Huesman.

There are issues, but we are not a dumpster fire. Some of you need to step away from the ledge. KG has some people helping/advising him at the present. I also understand the coaching world is excited about our opening. I would suggest some of you take a little time to look at DR and his history, not sure why he likes to move around, but it is in his history.

When was his son at UTC?
