Lets say we get Huesman, and he stays for at least 5 years. How will the program look after his 5 years versus Danny's 5 years?

Basic stats, Rocco has 3 playoff apperances, 2 CAA's, 1 quarterfinal, 1 semifinal and we have a strong roster.

I am not at all sure that Huesman is an option. If you listened to his press conference posted by 32, he appeared and said that he couldn't be happier than to be coaching at his alma mater. Of all those mentioned, I think that he may be the one closest to those of the Laycock and Talley school of loyalty.

Will be interesting newt few days. I'd think we'd be attractive to Huesman, but the fact that he's a Chattanooga alum may carry weight in his staying there.

Huesman's name is out there WAY too much for this to be a guess on someone's part. My guess is that this has been in the works for awhile, just like Rocco to UD was.

He seems like a good hire, but may be too footbally for admin and simply does not fit strategic vision of current leaders. Sad.

Posters on Chatty's message boards seem concerned that we are making a big push to get him. Who knows.

My prediction is that we make no real push for him at all. And remember, he and Danny are tight - - Danny is going to talk to him and I don't think what he has to say is gonna be real complimentary about the opportunity here!

Our cost for Huesman is high. He knows what promises he needs to get.

He's down more at UTC than Rocco did at Liberty. Not sure how it translates but I hope to find out.

the only reason his name is on here is because of us not anyone in the admin. he is on here because we had a very good D here with him under Clawson and we hated to lose him, think we would have had another national championship had he remained. not sure if he is interested in coming back here or if we are interested in what he would cost us. am thinking BROADWAY, vt hates him so he must be great.

From ESPN 950
BREAKING: Source says #Richmond has offered #Mocs Head Coach Russ Huesman. UTC countered. Huesman hasn't made up mind yet. Story coming next

just noticed on the Russ report that a tennessee man had killed and dismembered his parents. that is a definite sign that we have our coach, getting out of the state just in time.

Huesman should be a done deal. In 2018, Huesman's salary was $205,738; Rocco's salary in 2012 was $437,672, likely more this past year. In the final analysis it is all about money. OSC

My fear is Gill and Crutcher are going to hire someone just like them. All image no substance. Empty suits don't like to hire substantive people for them it will make them look bad and they will endlessly have to deal with a person who actually wants to get things done.

Huesman makes $230,738 annually and is under contract through the 2020 season. For perspective, Rocco makes $437,672 per season and Brock made in the $300,000 range, with one report suggesting he made $376,000.

I mean, they offered the job to Huesman, so that says something. If they wanted to suck at football, they would have offered it to someone who is coaching H.S. somewhere.

Cost of living in Chattanooga isn't 50% of Richmond.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get Greg Lilly back on the staff.

he also spoke highly of coach scott. love DC but maybe a little too close to his staff to be objective

Our D under Huesman was probably as good as any time in the recent past. Good enough to cause other teams serious problems and win us a NC. I do know he was full of energy.

don't get me wrong, loved our D under RH but what does his record and that of scott have in common?

FWIW - Coach Clawson speaks highly of Coach Huesman!
Nothing personal and I think Huesman would be a good choice, but if I recall correctly; as much as I respect Clawson he also recommended Scott? Hiring a Head coach is a real crap shoot. Has Gill ever hired one for football or basketball program.

My original post was simply a statement of fact and was qualified at its intro! I think part of any hiring process is to get endorsements from people that you respect and may have specific knowledge of the candidate. If you don't respect Coach Clawson's opinion that is fine - I was simply stating what I have heard him say on multiple occasions.
