How the F do we not press after a made basket down 6 with 2 minutes left. We just let them slowly bring the ball up. I mean absolutely no sense of desperation.
Why? its a decent conference and if VCU can have good out of conference record then dominate A10 play, the A10 can be the Gonzaga of the east.
Spids 8-19 from line. There is your game right there even with Grant having an off day.
Yes, another loss to VCU. Yes, a couple of our better players had a really bad game. But, those kids played their hearts out. Just not enough depth. That falls on the coach.
Gilyard was probably responsible for 40+ points... Best player on the FLOOR. PERIOD.

Great point. This is why Mooney is the right guy for the job. When things are down we’re losing close games. Around year 15 is when all your players get healthy, hit free throws and mature.
The Spids played as good a second half as tbey did all year and an overall very goodgame. I have no problem with this loss. The defense was there (less a one minute lapse at the end of the first half.)
This was the type. Of game we needed to have eaely in the year... A tough defensive game! Where we are as a team now is where we needed to be when the season started not as its (mercifully ) coming to a close.
Silva for VCU took 2 steps forward this year and Grant has regressed. He still has the potential to be a superstar but i dont think hes learning what he needs to here...
Most of those were missed free throws from Grant! At one point i think he was 0-7 FROM THE FREE THROW LINE
He meant VCU. I’m not sure either of those destinations are appropriate...
Too many turnovers in the first half. Crazy sloppy with the ball.

Terrible game by Grant, we seemed to press a bit when Grace was in the game, he could’ve gotten more minutes.
The couple of threes around the 10 minute mark by crowdfield were killers. Looked like we had moved back into the matchup when those happened. This team is much better playing a straight man with Goose (keep the fight on their best player.
Our coach with the most wins is now 6-18 vs VCU... that’s gross.

Tough loss. We were under-manned, but our guys didn't act like it nor did they back down.
As a fan, I appreciate the grit and fight. Easy to dump on Golden but it's not like he tried to miss free throws. Hat's off to the role players who stepped up and picked up the slack.
I always appreciate Grant's effort and I know he's bummed about tonight. Some days, I suck at my job too. At least I don't have to read about it on a message board. He'll be back, and we'll need him.
Goose showed some tantalizing flashes. Is he sneaky good, but bogged down in our offensive system? I can't figure him out, but I love his length on defense. Wonder what would happen if Mooney just unleashed him to play basketball like they play basketball in Finland? How do they play basketball in Finland?
Gilyard is a warrior. I hope his body survives his career at UR.
The big picture narrative hasn't changed. Nor would it have changed if we had won.
But today was better than expected for me, and it was a great atmosphere to be a part of. Thank you to the team for the good show, under the present circumstances.

One other thing that I forgot. Gilyard was great, that kid is a warrior.

5. Noah is at least a decent grad transfer unlike prior experiments
